Numbers

Almost everyone knows them, but seldom realize their power, except when it comes about money!! I am thinking about number of people, the populations. I live in India one of the most populous countries. The country which has the largest number of people below the poverty line, even after 65 years since it won its independence from the colonial rule of Britain. Why? Because the political party that has been in power for the maximum number of times, relized that in a democracy only the number of votes polled count. It is easy to fool the poor, hungry populate that is ignorant of its power. But, as the number of years have rolled out, it is becoming evident that it is not always easy to fool people. To govern a country one requires a large number of people, whether as bureaucrats, teachers or for various jobs to implement its policies, designed to keep the populace under control, to vote for it again and again. But, it is not so easy, because the education system that has to be kept substandard, cannot roll out quality servants, soon it is the delivery that raises questions about the quality of service, the party can provide. After all for how k\long can one rely on foreign trained manpower. Who have been trained for a different kind of society, for different circumstances. Sooner or later, the people that have been very subservient and voted such rulers to rule over them, start realizing very intuitively the dishonest intentions. But that is a part of evolution process, it works only with large populations over a large number of years. Rakesh Mohan Hallen
