EBA & WMU will be joining together this year to promote The Bucket Project: Hospice Kits WATCH FOR UPDATES ABOUT HOW YOU CAN PARTICIPATE!
Sub-Saharan Africa is more heavily affected by HIV/AIDS than any other part of the world. Nearly 23 million people are living with HIV in the region. In 2012, 1.2 million people died from AIDS there and 1.9 million people became infected with HIV. Since the beginning of the epidemic, 14.8 million children have lost one or both parents to HIV/AIDS. The HIV prevalence rate now exceeds 20% in a number of countries. Baptist Global Response (BGR) has found that sharing a five-gallon bucket of love may be the most effective way to open doors to share the love of Christ with these folks who are at deaths door.

Lead me to the rock that is higher than I. (Psalm 61:2)

In Psalm 61, Davids heart was overwhelmed: My heart grows faint (verse 2). We live in a day and time

Trials dark on ev'ry hand and we cannot understand all the ways that God would lead us to that blessed promised land in his classic hymn have never been more true than today. Our world is corrupted and blinded by sin.
when it is easy for our heart to grow faint. Charles A. Tendleys words It is easy for the heart to become discouraged and burdened. David knew the cure for a burdened heart was God. David remembered the days when he was a boy and cared for his fathers sheep. He would lead them to green pastures and beside still waters. Now Davids desire was for The Great Shepherd to lead him. A good navigator or compass is worth far more than you pay if you are out on the Gulf of Mexico and lose sight of land, sun, stars, or moon. God is still our Navigator and Compass through the troubled waters in this life. David knew if God led him to a rock higher than he could climb, it would be a God Thing. Someone said, If you ever see a turtle on a post, you will know he didnt get there on his own. Its not just enough to be on a rock, we need to be on Gods rock and that rock is Jesus! I am confident that only Jesus can see us through the trials of life. He is still The Way. In Psalm 18:1-2, David said, I love you, Lord, my strength. The Lord is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.

Heavenly Father, lead us to your Rock today.

In my devotional readings this week, I read again the story of the Israelites crossing the Jordan River into the Promised Land. I enjoy imagining that scene when, obeying Gods specific instruction through Joshua, the priests stepped into the water, carrying the Ark of the Covenant. As soon as their feet were wet, God put His plan into action, holding back the deep water until all His people were safely on the other side. This reading caused me to think of the many kinds of rivers we encounter in life. Often we come upon them in complete surprise, and at first, they can appear to be very deep and even uncrossable. I came to an unexpected crossing in my life earlier this year, but now I am happily on the other side of it, and I can testify that I was aware of the Lords steady and steadying presence through the whole experience. These surprise events are part of life and cannot be avoided. This morning my sister called to tell me she was following an ambulance taking her daughter to a hospital. Yesterday I went to a funeral home to express sympathy in the death of the mother of a friend. Last week a long-time friend told me of her sadness over estrangement from her granddaughters. I prayed with another friend who is at a transition point in her life due to age and health issues. A precious mother talked with me of her concern for her sons as they deal with the untimely death of their father. A young couple I know are wondering why their income source has suddenly dried up and how they will pay their bills. My brother-in-law, a PhD, is out of work. I could continue with this list, but I leave you to make your own. All of these people I have mentioned are Christians, all trying to live as best they can for the Lord. Did these events in their lives or mine come as a surprise to Him? Did He say, as we do, Oh my, I never expected that! ? Of course not. Just as with Joshua, the Israelites and the priests, He has a plan for every river we encounter. He wants us to step into the experience, trusting Him, and keep walking while He keeps the water from overwhelming us. He wants us to encourage others who are fearfully walking beside us. And when we get to the other side, He wants us to find a way to tell others about the One who brought us across. (Read Joshua 3 and 4.)

Evangeline Baptist Association

Through the support of the churches in the Evangeline Baptist Association, we are able to provide funding for a number of ministries in the Acadiana area. One of those ministries is the Freedom Biker Church, and the following is a report from Rowdy and Angela Daigle from Freedom Biker Church of Lafayette, LA, sharing how God has been and is still working among the biking community: Freedom Biker Church started on the side of the road in Garner (Raleigh) North Carolina. The vision was given to Bro. Mike and Charlene Beasley. A graduate of New Orleans Baptist Seminary who had a passion to reach unchurched bikers in 2006 with that passion, 12 churches were started in 6 states and 1 in Vancouver, Canada. In 2011 an Official Freedom Biker Church was started in Lafayette, LA, by Rowdy and Angela Daigle, upon whom God placed that same burden to reach unchurched bikers in our area. Since that time 46 people have come to Christ and have been baptized. God has opened so many doors for Freedom Biker which is now meeting at Cajun Harley Davidson. Weekly attendance has been running on the average of 40 +. Also, Freedom Biker, Lafayette meets once a quarter in Milton at WaWee's on the river at a local Biker Bar where we bring the gospel to the unchurched. Truly Freedom Biker Lafayette is an evangelistic church going to bike rallies, bars, bike shops, or benefit runs. Wherever the bikers are, is where we need to be reaching out, building relationships and presenting the Truth of the Gospel to our brothers and sisters who God has called us to. This affinity based church plant targets bikers and all are welcome. We jokingly say that there are 2 kinds of people who come to Freedom Biker: those who ride and those who will. We love the road the Lord has put before us and we are grateful for the Lord using us to reach this special culture of people. Our vision, mission and purpose is to Gather, Grow and Go. We have many opportunities for discipleship from Sparkplugs (Nursery), Chopper Church (Kid's youth) and Generation Next (teens). This type of discipleship is the same concept as a traditional church but in a biker format. Freedom Biker Lafayette is truly a CHURCH, It is Not a Motorcycle Ministry (M/M) or a Motorcycle Club (M/C) or a Riding Club (R/C). We believe all need a place where we can gather together weekly in our worship rally and grow in outreach opportunities, which gives Freedom Biker a unique way of reaching the unchurched. Freedom's vision is to plant churches statewide where bikers have a place to call their own. With the help of the Louisiana Baptist Convention and our local association we are riding forth to reach out more. Freedom Biker would like to thank the Evangeline Baptist Association for their help, guidance and support in furthering the Gospel of Jesus Christ. If you would pray for us, and if God places it on your heart to give to the support of our vision, please feel free to contact fbclafayettela@gmail.com, or Facebook (Freedom Biker Church Lafayette, LA). You are welcome to call Lead Pastor Rowdy D. Daigle or his wife, Angela Daigle 337-247-5168. We want to personally invite you to the church or share a cup of coffee with us. Thanks for helping us reach the World 2 wheels at a time. The main website for Freedom Biker is: www.freedombikerchurch.com
