SIMILARITIES BETWEEN THE BIBLE AND THE QUR’AN

IDOL WORSHIP PROHIBITED IN THE BIBLE AND THE QUR’AN

Book of Deuteronomy Ch. 5 V. 79

“Thou shall have none other god beside me, Thou shall make no gravel image of any likeness of things
up in the heaven above, in the earth beneath and in the water beneath the earth. Thou shall not bow down
to them, nor serve them for I thy Lord, thy God, is a jealous God.”

Al-Qur'an, 029.025 (Al-Ankaboot [The Spider])

“And he said: "For you, ye have taken (for worship) idols besides Allah, out of mutual love and regard
between yourselves in this life; but on the Day of Judgment ye shall disown each other and curse each
other: and your abode will be the Fire, and ye shall have none to help."

Al-Qur'an, 022.030 (Al-Hajj [The Pilgrimage])

“… but shun the abomination of idols, and shun the word that is false,…”

Therefore, doing idol worship is strictly prohibited in the Bible as in the Qur’an.

PROPHET MUHAMMAD (pbuh) IN THE BIBLE

Note. (pbuh) means peace be upon him.

The Qur’an mentions in Surah Al-Araf [The Heights] chapter 7 verse 157:
"Those who follow the Messenger, the unlettered Prophet, whom they find mentioned in their own
(scriptures) in the law and the Gospel…………..".

The complete verse is,

007.157 "Those who follow the messenger, the unlettered Prophet, whom they find mentioned in their
own (scriptures),- in the law and the Gospel;- for he commands them what is just and forbids them what
is evil; he allows them as lawful what is good (and pure) and prohibits them from what is bad (and
impure); He releases them from their heavy burdens and from the yokes that are upon them. So it is
those who believe in him, honour him, help him, and follow the light which is sent down with him,- it is
they who will prosper."

Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) in the Old Testament:

1. MUHAMMAD (PBUH) PROPHESISED IN THE BOOK OF DEUTERONOMY:

Almighty God speaks to Moses in Book of Deuteronomy chapter 18 verse 18:

"I will raise them up a Prophet from among their brethren, like unto thee, and I will put my words in his
mouth; and he shall speak unto them all that I shall command him."

The Christians say that this prophecy refers to Jesus (pbuh) because Jesus (pbuh) was like Moses (pbuh).
1) Moses (pbuh) was a Jew, as well as Jesus (pbuh) was a Jew.
2) Moses (pbuh) was a Prophet and Jesus (pbuh) was also a Prophet.

1
2
If these two are the only criteria for this prophecy to be fulfilled, then all the Prophets of the Bible who
came after Moses (pbuh) such as Solomon, Isaiah, Ezekiel, Daniel, Hosea, Joel, Malachi, John the
Baptist, etc. (pbut) will fulfill this prophecy since all were Jews as well as prophets.

There has to be a Prophet who exclusively fulfills this prophecy, unlike other Prophets.
Now, let’s apply this prophecy to Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) who is like Moses (pbuh):

i) Both had a father and a mother, while Jesus (pbuh) was born miraculously without any male
intervention. [Mathew 1:18 and Luke 1:35 and also Al-Qur'an 3:42-47]

ii) Both were married and had children. Jesus (pbuh) according to the Bible did not marry nor had
children.

iii) Both died natural deaths. Jesus (pbuh) has been raised up alive. (4:157-158)

iv) Both besides being Prophets were also kings i.e. they could inflict capital punishment. Jesus (pbuh)
said, "My kingdom is not of this world." (John 18:36).

v) Both were accepted as Prophets by their people in their lifetime but Jesus (pbuh) was rejected by his
people. John chapter 1 verse 11 states, "He came unto his own, but his own received him not."

iv) Both brought new laws and new regulations for their people. Jesus (pbuh) according to the Bible did
not bring any new laws. (Mathew 5:17-18).

Thus, it is Muhammad (pbuh) who is like Moses(pbuh).

Let’s further analyse this prophecy.

It says that "I will raise them up a Prophet from among their brethren,….”

Muhammad (pbuh) is from among the brethren of Moses (pbuh). Arabs are brethren of Jews. Abraham
(pbuh) had two sons: Ishmail and Isaac (pbut). The Arabs are the descendants of Ishmail (pbuh) and the
Jews are the descendants of Isaac (pbuh).

Words in the mouth:

Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) was unlettered and whatever revelations he received from Almighty God he
repeated them verbatim.

2. It is Mentioned in the book of Deuteronomy chapter 18:19

"And it shall come to pass, that whosoever will not harken unto my words which he shall speak in my
name, I will require it of him."
It means God Almighty tells us that if we don’t believe in that Prophet, then God will take revenge from
us.

3. Muhammad (pbuh) is prophesised in the book of Isaiah:

It is mentioned in the book of Isaiah chapter 29 verse 12:

"And the book is delivered to him that is not learned, saying, Read this, I pray thee: and he saith, I am
not learned."

2
3
When Archangel Gabrail commanded Muhammad(pbuh) by saying Iqra-"Read", he replied, "I am not
learned".

4. Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) mentioned by name in the Old Testament:

Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) is mentioned by name in the Song of Solomon chapter 5 verse 16:

''Hikko Mamittakim we kullo Muhammadim Zehdoodeh wa Zehraee Bayna Jerusalem''

" His mouth is most sweet: yea, he is altogether lovely. This is my beloved, and this is my friend, O
daughters of Jerusalem."

In the Hebrew language im is added for respect. Similarly im is added after the name of Prophet
Muhammad (pbuh) to make it Muhammadim. In English translation they have even translated the name
of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) as "altogether lovely", but in the Old Testament in Hebrew, the
name of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) is yet present.

All the prophecies mentioned in the Old Testament regarding Muhammad (pbuh) besides applying to the
Jews also hold good for the Christians.

Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) in the New Testament:

Al-Qur'an Chapter 61 Verse 6:

"And remember, Jesus, the son of Mary, said, 'O Children of Israel! I am the messenger of Allah (sent) to
you, confirming the Law (which came) before me and giving glad tidings of a messenger to come after
me, whose name shall be Ahmed.' But when he came to them with clear signs, they said, 'This is evident
sorcery!' "

1. John chapter 14 verse 16:

"And I will pray to my Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you
forever."

No human being lives forever in this world. What Jesus (pbuh) meant when he said that “he may abide
with you forever” is that his teachings will be forever, till the Day of Judgement there will be no other
Law of God except the one which that Prophet brings.

And the Qur’an revealed to Prohet Muhammad (pbuh) is to remain unchanged for ever.

2. Gospel of John chapter 15 verse 26:

"But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth,
which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me."

Prohet Muhammad (pbuh) testifies of Jesus (pbuh)

The Prophet Muhammad(peace be upon him) said:

"Whoever believes that there is none worthy of worship but God alone, without partners, that
Muhammad is His messenger, that Jesus is the servant and messenger of God, His word which He

3
4
bestowed on Mary and a spirit proceeding from Him, and that Paradise and Hell are true, shall be
received by God into Heaven." (A Hadith from the collections of al Bukhari)

Allah mentions in the Glorious Qur’an revealed to Prohet Muhammad (pbuh),

“Behold! the angels said "O Mary! Allah giveth thee glad tidings of a Word from Him: his name will be
Christ Jesus the son of Mary held in honor in this world and the Hereafter and of (the company of) those
nearest to Allah.”
"He shall speak to the people in childhood and in maturity and he shall be (of the company) of the
righteous."
(Qur'an Ch. 3:Verse 45-46)

"Truly the likeness of Jesus with God is as the likeness of Adam. He created him of dust and then said to
him, 'Be!' and he was." (Qur'an 3:59)

During his prophetic mission, Jesus performed many miracles. The Qur'an testifies that he said:
"I have come to you with a sign from your Lord: I make for you out of clay, as it were, a figure of a bird,
and breathe into it and it becomes a bird by God's leave. And I heal the blind, and the lepers, and I raise
the dead by God's leave." (Qur'an 3:49)

Neither Muhammad nor Jesus came to change the basic doctrine of the belief in One God, brought by
earlier prophets, but to confirm and renew it. In the Qur'an, Jesus(Pbuh) is reported as saying that he
came: "To attest the law which was before me. And to make lawful to you part of what was forbidden to
you; I have come to you with a sign from your Lord, so fear Allah and obey me." (Qur'an 3:50)

The two very important prophecies about Muhammad (pbuh) in the Bible.

3. Gospel of John chapter 16 verse 7:

Jesus Christ(pbuh) says, "Nevertheless I tell you the truth;it is expedient for you that I go away: for if I
go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you".

Think about the words used in this prophecy. Why Jesus Christ(pbuh) says that he tells us the truth? Did
any one doubt his truthfulness? Yet this truthful man and trustworthy Prophet testifies that he tells us the
truth. WHY DID HE TOOK SO MUCH CARE IN MAKING US REALIZE THAT HE WAS
CONVEYING A TRUE PROPHECY? Just think.

It’s because perhaps he knew that a time would come when people will read this verse in the Bible and
simply pass on. They won’t think deeply and won’t do research about it. Therefore to draw the
attention of the people and to make them realize that this is really a very imp. matter, he starts the
prophecy by saying, "Nevertheless I tell you the truth;..”

He futher continues
“…..;it is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you;
but if I depart, I will send him unto you".

Some Christians believe that this verse refers to the Holy Spirit Angel Gabriel or to the Prohphet Jonah.
They fail to realize that the prophecy clearly states that only if Jesus (pbuh) departs will the
Comforter come. The Bible states that the Holy Spirit Angel Gabriel was already
present on earth befere and during the time of Jesus(pbuh).Gabriel had conveyed the
message of God to Moses(pbuh).

4
5
Moreover even Prohphet Jonah was present when Jesus(pbuh) was baptized. So the Comforter
mentioned in this verse could only be Prohet Muhammad (pbuh)who came 600 years after
Jesus Christ(pbuh)

4. Gospel of John chapter 16 verse 12-14:

Jesus(pbuh) says,"I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now. Howbeit
when he, the Spirit of truth is come, he will guide you unto all truth: for he shall not speak of himself;
but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come. He shall glorify
me".

According to this verse Jesus Christ(pbuh) clearly states that he has yet many things to
teach, which means he has not taught the complete truth. He says that “…when he,
the Spirit of Truth is come, he will guide you unto all truth..”
Has Muhammad(pbuh) guided us unto all truth?

The Glorious Qur’an mentions in Ch. 5 verse 3

“….This day have I perfected your religion for you, completed My favour upon you, and have chosen
for you Islam as your religion…..”
Al-Qur'an, Ch. 5 verse 3 (Al-Maeda [The Table, The Table Spread])

It is clearly stated in the Qur’an that now the religion of God is perfected. That means now the truth is
complete.

Further the prophecy says that “…for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear,
that shall he speak: …”
Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) was unlettered and whatever revelations he received from Almighty God he
repeated them verbatim.

Still further the prophecy says that “..and he will shew you things to come….”
The Christian scholars themselves agree that there is nothing mentioned in the Bible about how and
where will Jesus(pbuh) come in his second coming.
And they also agree that the deatails of his coming is mentioned in the Sahih Ahadith( means the Sayings
and actions of the Prophet Muhammad(pbuh) )
Moreover there are so many signs of Qayaamat prophesised by Prophet Muhammad(pbuh), many of
which have already clearly appeared.
Thus, he is the one who has shown us the things to come.

The last phrase of the prophecy says “…He shall glorify me".
We have already seen above that Prohet Jesus(pbuh) has been glorified both in the Qur’an and in the
Sahih Ahadith ( i.e. in the revelation sent to Muhammad (pbuh) and in the Sayings of the Prophet.)

Thus, on the whole all these prophecies refer to none other than Prophet Muhammad(pbuh).
If you think that this is false then I would ask you to apply the falsification test of Albert Einstein.
Think of all the Prophets you know of and try to apply these prophecies to all of them.
It is my challenge that you won’t be able to get the name of a single Prophet , besides Prophet
Muhammad(pbuh) who could pass this test.
The reason is simple. The only Prophet which came after Jesus(pbuh) is Prophet Muhammad(pbuh) )

5
6
Now, if you wish to obey God and his Prophet Jesus(pbuh), then you must accept these prophecies and
shall follow the revelation sent down to the last and final messenger of Almighty God, Prophet
Muhammad(pbuh) )
Of course, if you wish to disobey and his Prophet Jesus(pbuh), then the responsibility is completely
yours.
But, remember what Almighty God says in the book of Deuteronomy chapter 18:19
"And it shall come to pass, that whosoever will not harken unto my words which he shall speak in my
name, I will require it of him."

It means God Almighty tells us that if we don’t believe in that Prophet, then God will take revenge from
us.

If you are ready to draw the wrath of God upon you, then you may disobey him and forget about these
prophecies.

But, if you truly love God and his Prophet Jesus(pbuh), then you must accept these prophecies and
follow the guidance sent down to the last and final messenger of Almighty God, Prophet
Muhammad(pbuh) )

NOTE: All quotations of the Bible are taken from the King James Version.

Also remember

The Glorious Qur’an mentions in (At-Tawba [Repentance, Dispensation])

009.030 The Jews call 'Uzair a son of Allah, and the Christians call Christ the son of Allah. That is a
saying from their mouth; (in this) they but imitate what the unbelievers of old used to say. Allah's curse
be on them: how they are deluded away from the Truth!

To say that God has begotten a son is a very heinous crime, for begetting means giving birth to children.
Having sex and begetting children is an animal act, which is unfit to the glory of our Creator.

I would like to end by quoting a verse from the Qur’an

Al-Qur'an, 031.021 (Luqman [Luqman])

“When they are told to follow the (Revelation) that Allah has sent down, they say: "Nay, we shall follow
the ways that we found our fathers (following). "What! even if it is Satan beckoning them to the Penalty
of the (Blazing) Fire?”

Hence, save yourself from the fire of the Day when no son shall avail anything for his father, nor a
mother will benefit for her daughter.
