Tips & strategies answering English Language Paper (UPSR ) PAPER 2 QUESTION 1 ( 10 m)

Study the picture carefully. Get to know where it taken place. Write in BM if you know the meaning of the words. List down all the subject ( people , animal ) , verbs , nouns ( things ,animals etc). 1. Make sure the subject is relevant to the verbs. You also can circle the verbs. 2. Start construct your sentences. 3. Check tenses , spelling , punctuation.

Example :
SUBJECTS Boy Girl Mother Father Adjectives : Preposition : VERBS ( is,are.ing) NOUNS (THINGS) watching tree eating sitting putting drinking fried noodles. food , mat water

EXAMPLE 1 - ( 9-10 MARKS ) - Excellent and confident use of language. 1. A man and his family are having a picnic at the beautiful park. 2. They are sitting under a big shady tree. 3. The boys father is drinking a glass of water while chatting with his family. 4. The boys mother is putting some food into the plate by using a ladle. 5. The girl is eating her favourite food using a spoon. 6 His son is watching the scenery of the park and enjoying the fresh air.

EXAMPLE 2 - ( 5-8 MARKS ) of language throughout.

Confident use

1. The man is drinking a glass of water. 2 The man is holding a glass of water. 3. The woman is putting some food into the plate. 4. The boy and his family are sitting on the mat . 5. The shoes are behind the man. 6 There are many types of food on the mat.

QUESTION 2 QUESTION 2(a) Information transfer ( 10 m) Study the poster , advertisement carefully. Get to know all information given. Look at given clues (answers) Dont write all the words in space provided. Check your answers especially , spelling and punctuation.Make sure you score full marks for this section.

QUESTION 2(b) making choice. Make your choice. ( only one ) . Give your reasons. You may add in 3 or 4 points in your reason. (from the table ). Give supporting ideas for each point.

EXAMPLE : I would choose the item that you choose because it is my favourite . * it is very beautiful. * I like it very much. * it is interesting. * it is good compared to the others. The price is RM 12.90. It is reasonable. The price is low.I can afford to buy it.

QUESTION 3 - NOTE EXPANSION ( 15 m) Here are steps that you can used. 1. Pupils have to read the instructions . 2. Pupils find any important details in pictures. 3. Pupils read the words below those pictures and then they try to understand every words given. 4. Pupils circle the verbs that are given . 5. Introduction 4 or at least 5 sentences about the people in the picture.( Maybe a man, a boy , a girl , a woman etc). 6. If about a story/ an incident , use past tense sentences. Write creatively . 7. After constructing the sentences, read again so that you know if you made any mistakes.
