quite regularly.
New Year's was a fine day also,-as prayers, testimonies, guest speakers and
refreshments all were a part of a spiritually very rewarding day.
So far in 1973 six adults have been baptized. The foundations of the work were laid in 1971; the church was established as a program of work set in motion
in 1972; now in 1973 we are putting on the final touches and are starting to
spread out, and a wonderful year is in prospect for the church. People are be ginning to attend without even being called on or being given a special invita tion as the reputation of the E. A. C. M. spreads through many areas.. More

Thank you for remembering the E. A. C. M. with special gifts. We have really needed these extras due to the rapid expansion of the work. I would especially like to thank the following for their gifts during the Christmas
season.

rar OPFIGE AM) CENTER We have rented two rooms in the center of Nairobi on
Gulszar Street which will serve as a center for Bible study in the city. Many of our people have expressed a wish to have a place such as this so that during
the day they could come and read and study the Word of God, The Center is an
especially busy spot during the tea and lunch breaJcs.
NEEDS We are receiving $435.00 a month for Mission Development. All of our work is being done on this limited budget. It has reached a point where
additional support is badly needed. Please join us in prayer that this need will be met. It is interesting to note that the Baptists, who have a Center and

Plans for my parents, Frank and Marie Rempel, to join me in Nairobi in March have suffered a delay due to the necessity for a series of radiation
treatments for Prank. He and my Mom are in Edmonton, Alberta enjoying the hospitality of Dad's sister and brother-in-law, the Henry Ungers, while he visits the W. W, Cross Cancer Hospital daily as an outpatient. They expect to return to Grande Prairie about mid-Pebruaxy, and after allowing for a few weeks
of recuperation will be "on the road" seeking support
enterprise for Christ.

THE REMPEL REPORT

November, 1973
Our travels in pursuit of financial support have taken us quite a few thousands
We've

visited friends and former supporting churches from the west coast to as far east as Akron, Ohio, and have found the same warm fellowship that our long experience has taught us is characteristic. Thank you one and alii
* Marie and I have proposed to western Canadian churches a plan for our support which we believe is right and good, and which we hope and pray may establish a
partnership in the Gospel which heretofore has not been possible. We propose to them that th^ organize themselves into a voluntary "sending" group which will have both advisory and supervisory authority over us, as well as raising among themselves a good portion of the support we need for our proposed teaching ministry in East Africa. This, we envision, will help them to do what the small size of the average^ western Canadian does not permit it to do alone: send to the field and there support financially their own evangelists]
* The medical reports on Frank's condition, following radiation treatments, that we'd been waiting for came, and is entirely satisfactory. The way it looks to us now is that God in His wisdom brou^t us back from India to Alberta, where the
facilities for such treatment, are second to none and where they are available at no expense to us, specifically to have this matter taken care of. Now that it has
* The Central Christian Church of Clovis, New Mexico, which had a very important partnership with us during quite a number of the years of our India service, has again ass\jmed a "living link" relationship to us. They will also, do our U. S.
forwarding for us. It would be hard to overstate our feelings of appreciation toward this group of dedicated and concerned Christians and we are especially thank ful to Mary Hecht and Beth Brian for daring to undertake the duties connected with this responsibility.
* Anyone who has any knowledge of our "Direct-support" missionary method knows how important the services of a forwarding_agent are to 1^e__aiicpess. of the J3rk__on the field. Properly performed, it is no easy task. But it is the vital link be tween the senders and the sent in our system of missionary suppoi*t.

We are of course very grateful to the Florence, Oregon Christian Church, more specifically there to Mrs. Virgil Shaw, for performing this function so ably and
well for us in the interim.
Present plans, subject to the leading of God and our success in raising the
necessary support by that time, are to fly to Nairobi, Kenya, during December.
No date has been set but we hope that it may be toward the first part of the month. I'&ike this a part of your prayers to God for us, will you?

* Dean, in company with three African fellow-workers, recently spent nearly a month on this continent. The necessity for being in Africa for the opening of the new school opportunity at Karatina, north of Nairobi, made it impossible for him to visit all his supporting churches. Pressure on the field has made it necessary to forego the school work which Dean had hoped to finish while home.
* The East Africa Christian Mission is now the managing agency of a Secondary School of some three hundred students at Karatina in Nyeri, in Kikuyu tribal country. The students are mostly "boarding students" and many are married. The school is supported from tuitions paid by them, with deficits in the operation made up from government grants. The mission is to have a free hand in establishing a religious education course - not as a part of the regular curriculum of course serving only students who wish to participate in it.
Out of the $1000 pledged monthly support that we need, we have perhaps $400.00

appeal to you folks who are on our general mailing list to put us into your mission budgets. This may not be possible for you to do until the new budgets for 1974 are drawn up, but won't you write to tell us that you are considering doing so? * Travel funds, amounting for the two of us to about $1000.00 are needed now so that we can start making travel plans. As indicated earlier we hope to be in Kenya by mid-Deceniber at latest and need to be working on the details of packing
and departure.
* Some additional funds for equipment are needed. An overhead projector to be used in the teaching ministry we propose to undertake, and I.B.M. typewriter for doing "layouts" for offset printing are essential. Both of the items are available
in Nairobi.
* If you send funds to our foiwarding agents, it is helpful if you designate the need toward which they are to be directed, viz:
