Develop a criteria for evaluating t h e steady state stability of a n electrical drive. A motor drives two loads .One has rotational motion. It is coupled to the motor through a reduction gear with a=0.1 and efficiency of 90%.The load has a 2 moment of inertia of 10 kg-m and a torque of 10 N-m.The other load has translational motion and consists of 1000 kg weight to be lifted up at a uniform speed of 1.5 m/sec. Coupling between this load and the motor has an 2 efficiency of 85%.Motor has an inertia of 0.2 kg- m and runs at a constant speed of 1420 r.p.m. Determine the equivalent inertia referred to the motor shaft and power delivered by the motor. (OR) Discuss the different modes of operation of an electrical drive. Explain the multiquadrant operation of a n electric motor driving a hoist load. Explain the motoring operation of a single phase fully controlled converter fed Separately excited DC motor in continuous and discontinuous modes with steady state analysis and wave forms. (OR) Explain the operation of four quadrant dc chopper drive. A dc chopper is used to control the speed of a separately excited dc motor. The DC voltage is 220 V, Ra = 0.2 and motor constant ke=0.08V/rpm. The motor drives a constant load requiring an average armature current of 25 A, Determine. (1).The range of speed control. (2).The range of duty cycle. Assume continuous conduction. Derive the transfer function of dc motor-load system. Give the design procedure of current controller (OR) Explain the armature voltage control of dc motor with constant field and field weakening modes Using a diagram and torque speed curve, explain the stator voltage control scheme for the speed control of a three phase induction motor. Bring out the limitations of the above speed control scheme Explain how voltage and frequency are varied in voltage source inverter fed induction motor drives. (OR) Describe with a diagram the open loop volts/Hz control of an induction motor Explain with diagrams a minimal closed loop control system of a current - fed inverter system and its performance characteristics Explain open loop speed control of synchronous motor with constant (v/f) ratio Explain power factor control of synchronous motor with relevant vector diagram (OR) Draw and explain a close loop speed control system of a BLDM drive with the inverter operating in PWM feedback mode
