August 2013
The 2014 proposed budget was presented to the library board. The budget will be advertised after the August board meeting. The Public hearing on the budget will be held at the September 11th board meeting. The 2014 Budget will be adopted at the October 9th board meeting. Phil Passen from Meyer Najem gave a construction update. The site has been excavated and foundation shored. Because of ground water we had to have the soil tested a second time and the soils were determined unsuitable so the foundation will be undercut by 20 inches and filled in with stone. Drainage tiles will be laid to direct the water to the sump pit. In the next 30 days the foundation and then the walls will be poured. The renovation of the existing building will be done one area at a time with as little disruption as possible.

From the Board of Trustees

Friends of the Westfield Library

The Friends are going to try out some different fundraising events and were looking for help. We are working on a 5K and family fun run happening some time in October and a golf outing for the spring. Do you like running? How about golf? If so, we could use your help. If sports aren't really your thing, we have plenty of other non-athletic assignments that you could work on such as finding sponsors, publicizing the event, and more. If you are at all interested in planning and/or executing these events, call Sara at 317-896-9391 for more information. You dont have to commit to anything now, but we can talk about what you might like to do and what best fits your schedule. We also have a lot of nonsporting projects lined up to help with fundraising, recruitment, advocacy, and general administrative tasks if you are interested in helping in other ways.
Of course, you can always make a tax deductible donation!
