At Canadian Language Centre our idea of a student-centered approach is to offer excellent learning in an intimate, fun environment. We will go out of our way to make sure our students are successful and happy. CLC provides the highest standards of English education for students that come from all over the world to study together in a warm, stimulating, and friendly international atmosphere. Our aim is to help you achieve your linguistic objectives while making your stay a rewarding and enjoyable one. We look forward to welcoming you to our school. We have the pleasure of meeting hundreds of international students and we take seriously the responsibility to ensure we maintain our reputation for quality education, student welfare and guidance.

Philosophy
At Canadian Language Centre, we make our students our number one priority. As part of our commitment to providing excellence to you, we offer programs with a maximum class size of 12 students to ensure the best learning experience possible. We believe that confident students are successful students and we place a great emphasis on learning in a comfortable atmosphere that encourages all students to participate. We regularly ask for student feedback to make our programs more suitable. Our programs have been carefully developed to help our students define their English goals and to reach those goals. Our English courses focus on the four skills: speaking, listening, reading and writing. We have chosen the most current, cultural and relevant learning materials to complement them. Our students tell us that they never knew learning English was so much fun!

Multicultural Toronto
Toronto is the largest city in Canada and the provincial capital of Ontario. It is located in Southern Ontario on the shore of Lake Ontario. It is also one of the worlds most culturally diverse cities. Toronto is consistently rated as one of the worlds most livable cities by the likes of The Economist and Mercer Quality of Living Survey. Toronto is a clean, safe, cosmopolitan city with a wonderful network of parks and recreational and cultural facilities with excellent shopping, entertainment and night life.

Toronto is the home of four professional sports teams and the third largest English-speaking theatre district in the world, and it is the fifth most populous city in North America. In close proximity to New York City, Chicago, Detroit, Quebec, Ottawa, Montreal, Niagara Falls and many more attractions, Toronto offers many exciting vacation options. It is also home to the Toronto International Film Festival, Canadas Wonderland, the CN Tower and the Royal Ontario Museum.

At CLC we offer a multi-level General ESL program which focuses on all 4 learning skills and uses the best textbooks and proven teaching methodologies. Our students apply what they learn, with excellent results!
Six levels of General ESL, from Beginner to Advanced Highly qualified and experienced teachers ensure that classes are informative, educational, and interesting 4 basic skills (Speaking, Listening, Writing, Reading) are covered, while maintaining high degree of communicative and task-based learning Textbooks provide strong foundation for teachers and students, with teachers supplementing with extra material

Electives
Business English
Our Business English course teaches students the language of business. With the most up-to-date materials for business English learners, students develop language skills, increase knowledge of key business concepts and expand their vocabulary. Learn with plenty of workshops, tutorials and lab work.

Accent Reduction & Clear Speech


Learn how to speak clearly and fluidly through customized training and coaching. You will practice how to dramatically improve your English pronunciation (accent reduction), grammar skills, and general conversation ability while speaking English.

Test Preparation
Whether its IETLS, TOEFL or TOEIC, test preparation is a much demanded course among international students. Improve not only your overall English skills, but also learn the strategies and tips that will help you get top marks on your test.

Slang & Idioms


Do you feel like a fish out of water when speaking with strangers outside of the class? With our Slang & Idioms class, these expressions will be a piece of cake. Feel more confident and blow your friends away with all the new expressions you will learn! We are always adding new and exciting electives. See our website for an updated list.

Grammar for Life


Forget filling in the blanks. You need to learn functional, practical grammar that you can use each and every day. You probably know more grammar than you are aware of- now we need to teach you how to use it! Lets make grammar interesting!

Current Events/ Canadian Culture


Learn about and discuss international events, with a focus on Canadian perspectives and culture. Most of you are new to Canada and know that things are often seen differently here than in your home countries. Why dont you learn more about it? Daily activities keep an eye on English language structures and communication skills.

Work & Study


Studying English is increasingly important in our modern, global marketplace. However, studying without practical experience is often not enough. In todays competitive job market, you need experience in an English working environment, along with advanced English skills, in order to succeed. At CLC, we fully understand this process and want to provide you with all the skills needed to flourish in todays work environment.

Entrance Requirements
(minimum)
TOEIC score of 700, TOEFL (paper-based) 525, TOEFL iBT 70, IELTS band 5 or 70% (Intermediate level) on the CLC placement test. Our Business English program includes daily lab sessions during which students are trained with essential hands-on skills and strategies to help them secure the job they are looking for.

6 Month Program
3 months of study + 3 months of work = 6 months You will study in the following Programs: General ESL + Cambridge Business English Certificate Preparation (BEC) + Business English 3 months
You must apply for a 6-month Student Visa and a 3-month Work Permit.

12 Month Program
6 months of study + 6 months of work = 12 months You will study in the following Programs: General ESL + Electives + BEC Prep + Business English 6 months
You must apply for a 12-month Student Visa and a 6-month Work Permit.

8 Month Program
4 months of study + 4 months of work = 8 months You will study in the following Programs: General ESL + Elective + BEC Prep + Business English 4 month
You must apply for an 8-month Student Visa and a 4-month Work Permit.

Internships
Internship Program
The CLC Internship Program offers placements in Canadian companies. Scheduling will vary depending on the placement, each students experience and their English level at the time of placement. CLC helps to match you with a company that fits your education, experience and career goals. You will gain real-life experience in a challenging work environment suited to your needs. Your trainer will be available throughout your Internship Program to provide you with the necessary support to succeed and gain invaluable experience. Your Internship Coordinator and teachers will assist you with many skills, including: Building a strong resume and cover letter Preparing and practicing for an interview Contacting the companies of your choice Understanding Canadian work culture

Visa requirements:

How to be accepted
Students must: be 18 to 35 years of age be willing to work in entry level positions be motivated to learn and work hard To participate in the Internship Program you must be accepted into our Business English program. Once accepted into the Business English program, you will need to submit a resume and conduct an interview with our Internship Coordinator. We will then help you to build your skillset while you prepare for the internship of your choice.

English for Academic Purposes


Prepare for a post-secondary degree at an English-speaking university or college. Develop the skills and confidence that will help you excel in a challenging academic environment. Corporate Training (Live and Online)


In addition, CLC is now partnered with a corporate training organization that: Consults and strategizes to provide full service, customized Communication Solutions. Offers the convenience of in-house, off-site and on-line training options.

Private High School


CLC now has a sister campus that also offers Ontario high school credits, fully recognized and accredited by the Ontario Ministry of Education.

These services, which have been developed and delivered since 1996, can also be adapted to customized Academic English settings.

Accomodations
Homestay
Living with a homestay family is a great way to practice your English in a social, friendly setting. CLC provides a variety of homestay options to suit your individual needs. Students are provided with a private bedroom, bathroom facilities, meals and contact with Englishspeaking Canadians every day. The host family provides information on how to live in and enjoy Canada, such as: how to get to and from school, where to shop, and how to get to the local library, bank, and places of interest.

Airport pick-up
A CLC representative is available for airport reception and/or drop-off.

Dormitory/Private rooms
Rooms in safe and clean college dormitories, as well as rooms in nearby houses can also be arranged by our staff upon request. These options includes a private bedroom as well as access to a shared washroom and kitchen. Space can be limited, however, so please book in advance. All of our accommodations are located in appealing, safe neighborhoods accessible to CLC within 30 minutes by foot or public transportation. ALL of our host families are inspected and continuously monitored, to ensure that they meet our rigorous standards for safety and cleanliness.

Facilities
Canadian Language Centre is located in a busy, rapidly growing shopping/business area of Toronto. We are surrounded by shopping centres, bars, restaurants, libraries, coffee shops, fitness clubs, cinemas, government offices and more. Our school is steps away from the subway. The facilities at CLC are first-class. Our classrooms are modern and bright, and our student lounge, snack bar, and computer lab make learning a breeze.

Staff
Our staff are highly experienced and qualified to offer expert academic training and counseling. All of our teachers are university educated and hold, at a minimum, TESL Canada certification. They have been chosen to teach at CLC not only for their academic qualifications, but also for their dedication to and passion for English language instruction. Our staff speak many languages, helping students to adjust easily to life in Canada.

Excursions & Activities


Learn while you play
Activities, excursions and after-school language workshops are a great way to learn, practice your English skills, make new friends and discover all the fun Toronto has to offer! CLC organizes a monthly calendar that is distributed to all students and posted on the student board. We offer daily trips as well as weekend excursions. Our most popular trips are New York, Chicago, Quebec/ Montreal/Ottawa and Niagara Falls. Students also delight in visiting Torontos world famous CN Tower, Casa Loma and Royal Ontario Museum. As well as paid activities, CLC engages in school spirit field trips like football games, birthday parties, karaoke and movie nights.
