Strategies A. Preparation 1. Routine Activities Prayer Greetings Checking of Attendance

2. Motivation Activity 1. Since it is the first day of meeting, everyone is asked to introduce themselves and give one word that will describe them. Afterwards tell the class that one of the subjects being tackled in psychology is personality. Since each of them has different personality traits, they will tend to behave in different ways and that is one of the focuses of psychology- the behavior of an individual. In addition, each behavior that we possess has an underlying reason. This is the reason why we must be able to understand each and everyone and not to be judgmental by what we only see.

Activity 2. Ask the class to list down the words that they think of when they hear the word psychology. Students are also asked to write their explanations why they think those words are connected in this field.

B. Presentation 1. From the second activity, select the words given by the students which are related to psychology. Afterwards, give its definition. Psychology is the science of human behavior and mental processes. It was derived from the Greek words psyche and logos meaning soul and study. 2. Next, explain the goals of psychology. The goals of psychology are: To describe/ to understand- to be empathetic to behavior of a person

To predict- predict behaviors of a person, why people behave this ways To control/to influence- modifying ones behavior into a more desirable way.

3. Third, discuss the importance of psychology Psychology helps us understand the nature and importance of human interactions. Furthermore, it contributes by helping educate our society to learn and think critically. 4. Finally, enumerate and differentiate the methods of research used in psychology. Experimental Methodthe most widely used scientific way of gathering information. The psychologists usually treat two variables in this methodindependent and dependent variable. Observation Method--- A field study method of making observations of what is going on in the environment. The investigator goes in the field with a set of questions and makes observations. Survey Methodin this method, the investigator asks potential respondents about their attitudes, their fears or their reactions or perceptions about incidence like failing in board examination. It can use tools such as questionnaires. Test Method- the test itself is the research instrument. It measure all kinds of abilities, interests, attitudes and achievements. Case histories-- the psychologist study behavior through using information found in anecdotal records or accounts stored in hospital, schools or municipal halls.

*Note: The students are motivated to participate in the class discussion and give their ideas on the topic being tackled.

C. Evaluation 1. Conduct a socialized recitation on what they have learned in the class. Asked them to give a brief summary.

2. Conduct a quiz regarding the topic discussed.

IV.

Assignment 1. How Socrates, Plato and Aristotle defined soul? 2. Prepare for quiz next meeting. Reference Evangelista, Lourdes L. Introduction to General Psychology, Revised Edition, 2004 Remarks If majority of the class understand the lesson well, proceed to the next lesson. If not, allow a 15-20 minute recap on the next meeting and ask them to study their lessons very well.
