Introduction There may be several types of waste inside the classroom in a day.

For instant, broken pencil, pen, refill, pieces of paper, particles through the shoes and sandals from outside, chewing gums cover, plastic of noodles and biscuit, damaged water bottle, fruits cover and seeds and other so many things. All these are related to the school environment and child health. These are the waste problem of a classroom, should be managed within school. In the context of Nepal, most of the school have such types of problems either rural school or urban school. It can be taken a great challenge to keep on healthy school environment. Awareness, Knowledge, Attitude, Skills and Participation are the key concepts of environmental education. Most of the school children dont have awareness about classroom waste. They throw here and there inside the classroom even they dont think those waste are common products. Somehow, they know the effect of those wastes but dont take care seriously. Some school has sweeper and usually they clean/sweep the classroom although classroom may not be clean because number of producer are larger than sweeper. It is fact that, if the children aware about classroom waste it either would be manage properly or would be less amount of waste and can be managed easily. Basically, they should have knowledge about classroom waste and effect on school environmental health and human health. Then, they will more aware and can managing waste inside their house and surrounding. If they were taught very basic things about waste and management, of course, they will have skill, experiences and positive mental attitude to reduce 5 Vishwakarma Lila

the environmental problems regarding the waste. To have the experiences, they should participate in such a project, in which they actively participate and do. In some case, due to the sweeper or cleaner, most of the children dont like to collect and manage the waste. Thats the reason they really miss to have experiences for the future. If they gain those experiences in very beginning, they will mature as early as possible. If we make a project for classroom waste management and implement that, the classroom and school environment will be more healthy, effective and attractive. Students will be more benefited by gaining knowledge and having experiences about waste management. If they learn more basic things to complexity, they may be expert or researcher in the field of environment in their future life. At least, they can contribute to make healthy environment within their community. I have implemented a project work at Kuleshwore Secondary school in Kathmandu valley. Students were very much actively participated during project work and school family supported efficiently. We collected paper and plastic waste from inside classroom and school surrounding. Chief concentration was on how to manage the plastic and paper wastes which from inside the classroom though we concerned school surrounding as well. Participants were been taught to make dolls (rabbits) from the collected waste which is a technique of reusing the paper and plastic waste within school/classroom. On the one side it leaded to manage the plastic and paper waste, positive mental attitude towards school environment and on the other side students were benefited by having skill of doll making. Purpose/Goals: To increase awareness of students about plastic and paper waste free class room (school) environment. To accomplish the purpose of the research, I looked for government school and observed three schools then I have found a school with lots of environmental problems more likely plastic and paper waste management problems which ultimately related to the school health. I decided to conduct a research work with strong desire to see the neat and clean classroom environment and changing in attitude of students towards the school health. We have done lots of activities since very beginning up to final stage of the project work. Objectives: as the objectives, was taken that all the participants will be able to bring some changes after completion of project work/research. Especially, focal objectives were follows To maintain neat and clean classroom even school surrounding as well To gain co-operative working skills To make dolls (rabbit) by using waste (paper and plastic) Methodology: A success of any research is depending on methodology which guides entire research to acquire better achievement. So, here in this research/project work, as methodology I have chosen interview and observation according to the context of the activities. I interviewed to the teacher of the subject of health, population and environment education which is being taught as compulsory subject from class 6 to 10 since 1995 AD. Approximately 15 times I frequently observed classroom and school surroundings during my research period and lots of activities have been done as per the requirements project work. I found the participant students played vital role to achieve the objectives of the project very much excitingly. In each and every activity I involved to share my experiences and to know the interest of the participant students. 7 Vishwakarma Lila

We did various activities during the project. We collect paper and plastic waste from inside the classroom even from outside like yard and play ground. The project aimed to change the behavior of the students towards the solution of paper and plastic waste by themselves. It was difficult to motivate them because there was abundant waste and nobody was taken under their responsibility. Definitely, we got success through the various activities. Limitation: it has ultimately some limitation like financial constraint, expertise etc. Conceptual framework: Responsible Body Materials School Health Project within school learning Instruction Activities Outputs For this project I developed outline/framework as given above. This outline gave us help to conduct research/project work. As the responsible body, was considered researcher, headteacher, participant students and staff. We collected and used many things as materials like soap for washing, sack for collecting waste, and waste-bin for keeping waste for reusing purpose, thread and needles, scissors, patches of cloths and other miscellaneous. We conducted various activities co-operatively in practical manner. Collecting waste, making dolls, group discussion, note making etc. I got change in all over the environment of school and change in students behavior or attitude on waste problems. Specially, became change in classroom comparatively than previous. Instruction was given as per the requirements of the students and work schedule.
