Semiconductor nanocrystals-silica composite particles were synthesized by combination of spray drying and sol-gel processing. White light emitting diodes with high color rendering index were fabricated with nanocomposite particles and inorganic matrix successfully passivated the surface of nanocrystals for highly improved luminescence stability.

Surface of nanocrystals were modified with organic ligands and uniform dispersion of nanoparticles in conjugated polymer matrix for hybrid solar cells were realized. The short circuit current densities were enhanced by addition of CdSe tetrapods capped with a new ligands up to 3.39% which is more than 10% increase in efficiency compared with undoped P3HT:PCBM blends.
