BASE UNIT
REMOTE UNIT
Introduction
Airorlites GPS over Fiber System sends Global Positioning System (GPS) signals to locations where synchronized timing is required but not easily obtained. This method of optical signal processing eliminates the need for larger coaxial cables, booster ampliers and other ancillary equipment. In recognition of the critical nature of these applications the GPS1002 is configured with two channels to support redundant communications. A Model GPS1002 GPS over Fiber System, consists of the following: (1) Remote Unit (GPS1002T) (1) Base Unit (GPS1002R) (2) AC Power Supply (GPS1002PS) optional (2) Antenna (GPS1002A) - optional Note: Single channel models are available by special order. The system is powered by -48 Vdc. Optionally a 120 Vac to -48 Vdc weather resistant power converter is available for applications where -48 Vdc is not present in the application.
5 Vdc power to a powered antenna and monitors the current drawn by the antenna to confirm proper operation. The Remote Unit receives GPS satellite signals from the antenna and converts them to an optical signal that is transmitted through a singlemode ber optic cable. The base unit detects the optical signal and converts it back to a radio frequency (RF) signal that is usable by a GPS receiver.
Application
Ideal for any application that requires synchronized timing. Cell Sites, Trunked Radio Systems, Security and SCADA Systems normally all require some form of synchronized control.
Advantages
Airorlites GPS1002 System offers: Elimination of high construction costs and maintenance costs of coax cable Low-loss interconnection Lightning isolation while eliminating cable leakage problems Minimum time delay Interface to any GPS Receiver Interface to any GPS Antenna
Operation
The GPS1002 System operates between a GPS Antenna and Receiver. The Remote unit provides
