SADASHIVUnfollow Follow SADASHIV SADASHIV SAHASTRABUDDHE please share your experience regarding errection commissioning of 250 mw generator, gt & stn transformer i am starting ******* while dc resistance of the large transformer with the eltel transformer winding kit it takes lot of time for setteling down the readings to avoidthe dealy following trick may be used while taking the readings in U1 V 1 terminal just give a touch dc to the the terminals V1 W1 . you will get the readings there after very fast without compromising th e quality May 16, 2010 Unlike Like

ANEESH KUMARUnfollow Follow ANEESH KUMAR ANEESH KUMAR SHANDILYA Ensure the testing of BDV of oil from all the oil drums, which are required for topping up the transformer. Also test the oil of the conservator while opening the oil valve between conservator and the main tank, in case the valve of the conservator was closed. In case of any slippage, if any one of the drum is having water mixed with oil will create a hell of problem in commissioing of the transformer. August 29, 2010 Unlike Like

JaswantUnfollow Follow Jaswant Jaswant Grover The most common mistakes during commisioning are- a.improper tightening ofcover of measurement terminals of EHT bushings provided for tan delta after test . b.insufficient release of air from tank top, buchholz, radiators etc November 29, 2010 Unlike Like

favadUnfollow Follow favad favad janjua Always perform AC tests prior to any DC tests otherwise your excitation/SFRA results will be effected due to remnant magnetism/core magnetization which means it will influence a DC offset. June 12, 2011 Unlike Like

AlanUnfollow Follow Alan Alan Peiniger Over-tightening the vent plugs at the top of the radiators (following air bleeding) results in cracked gaskets and oil leaks down the outside of the radiators. If unchecked, firstly conservator oil level low alarm will be activated and eventually followed by Buchholz oil level low low trip. To avoid this mistake, always use a torque wrench set to the torque value stated in the manufacturer's installation manual. Better still, if at all possible, have the manufacturer install and commission the transformer on site. July 29, 2011 Unlike Like

GustavoUnfollow Follow Gustavo Gustavo Fonseca I agree with Favad Janjua, leave the DC tests to the end. And even if you need to do any test after a DC test, apply some AC voltage before. This helps to get the core magnetic orientation back to normal. Regarding the assembly and oil procedures. That's really the critical part. O lot of work can be lost and a considrable time and resources would be demanded to recover oil contamination and leaking problems, depending on level of it. Another critical test is the insulation PF, specially for the bushings, it's allways nice to do it before assembling. So you don't loose time if there's something wrong. July 29, 2011 Unlike Like

Navneet Saxena Follow the guidelines given by manufacturers, as it may have some specific areas which need to be tested and check at erection site. Earthing of transformer is one of the key area to be given due care. Another area which require attention is its protection scheme, which need be simulated prior to taking transformer in line. Spurious tripping are observed due to faulty commissiong on :- Failing to check CT biasing and CT polarity. Porper adjustment of stabilizing resistor for differntial and standby earth relay - Removal of temporary connection used for testing - Loose HT/ LT Jumper connections - Loose Marchalling box connections - Fail to check and confirm relay setting w.r.t to field settings - Fresh fill oil (Tested) need a settling time (Refer OEM instructions)- Take PI value on both side of windings >1. - HT connection creep distance requirement has not been violated. - Breather is having plug removed to allow tranformer breate with external environment. - PRV has been installed of appropriate rating (Refer OEM guidelines) There are some other check which may as detailed by OEM for erection and commissioning of transformer 5 months ago Unlike Like

ClaytonUnfollow Follow Clayton Clayton Taylor During commissioning of the transformer or substation, by placing up to 20MW of load with medium volatge load banks on the secondary, we have found issues with winding counts on the primary where one phase had more turns than the other. This also allowed us to verify the primary current transformer loops and secondary current transformer loops of the relay protection scheme. The amount of current recommended by digital relay manufacturers is between 0.5 and 1 amp to verify these relay loops. This also creates a good time to take some power quality measurements when the transformer is partially under load and doing some infra red thermography on the secondary. The result and benefit for you is to have voltage protection circuit verified as a system ahead of placing plant or grid production at risk and avoid multiple future uplanned outages or trips. 2 months ago Unlike Like

One must be careful and ensure that test voltage always be applied on H.T terminals otherwise there is every possibility of generation high volage on the HV terminal if test voltage be applied on LV side. It is important. 2 days ago Unlike Like
