Pressure
• Pressure is defined as the force
per unit area.
Pressure, P = F / A
• Pressure in liquids, P = h ρg
A = area of base
h = depth of base
g = gravitational field
strength
ρ = density of liquid
Pascal’s principle
• Pascal’s Principle states that in a confined
fluid, an externally applied pressure is
transmitted uniformly in all directions.
Archimedes’ Principle
• Archimedes’ Principle states that an object,
whether completely or partially immersed in a
fluid, is acted on by a buoyant force, which is
equal to the weight of the displaced fluid.
Bernoulli’s Principle
• Bernoulli's Principle states that in a steady
flow of fluid, the pressure decreases when the
velocity of the fluid increases and the
converse is also true.
