Tom Gregory was admitted to the hospital this week with heart issues. Rene VanderHart had surgery on one of her knees. The doctors say the surgery was successful but she has a lot of pain. Nicodemus Ude has had some improvement after his eye surgery. Pray for continued healing. I would like to thank Almighty God for His presence with me and all of the men that God has placed in authority over us for their visits and prayers during my illness. Jim & Judy Kwekel Saturday, August 24 at 4 PM Pastor David Murray and Pastor Marc Eix will solemnize the marriage of Lydia Faasse and William Richert in our church auditorium. The congregation is invited to witness the ceremony. May the Lord bless Will and Lydia as they begin their married life.

Welcome to our services today. PASTORS AT THE HELM Parishes are holy ships, whose curates are the pilots, and eternity the port which they must guide them to. If it need so much art and long experience to sail upon the seas, what knowledge and prudence does it call for, to pass over, happily, the sea of this world, where tempest never cease! Alas! who can think, without sensible grief and bitter tears, that the helm of these vessels, contain such precious wares as cost no less than the blood of Jesus Christ, should be committed ordinarily, to men of so little experience, that they are not only ignorant of the tempests, shelves, and banks of this terrible sea, but even have not strength and industry to guide their own little vessel back to the road again! And these inestimable riches are frequently entrusted to those whom they will not trust with their own purse of fifteen or twenty pieces. And when the pilots are able, who would not even then lose their courage to see themselves sailing amidst so many hazards, and with so little success! How many stupid ones fall out of the vessel! How many imprudent ones get out sailing apart in the shallows! How many desperate ones throw themselves over, and abandon themselves to the fury of the waves! What disquiets, what grief, and what trouble for a poor pilot! He must run out on all sides to reach out his hand to those that fall. He must exhaust his lungs, in trying to call those who flee away. He must even frequently throw himself into the sea, to recover those whom the waves swallow up. If he watches not, the fall of the first will be imputed to him. If he be silent, he will have to answer for flight of the second. If he fears labor and travail, he will be accused of others despair. If, in a word, he lacks diligence, strength, and courage, he will be guilty of as much bloodshed as he lets souls perish. Entreaties All that we are, and all that we have, Unto the Lord we owe; Our health, our wealth, our friends, our powers, It pleased Him to bestow. We may abuse these gifts Divine, To us in kindness given, And live forgetful that this life Must end in hell or heaven. But oh, the solemn hour will come, When all, account must give, Of how, as moments hurried on, We tried on earth to live. Congregational Life
Today, Pastor Murray will conduct our services. This evening, the sacrament of Holy Baptism will be administered to, Hunter Cole, son of Tyler & Courtney Prince and to Tyson Cruz, son of Joel & Tammy Timmer. Next Sunday, Dr. Michael Barrett will preach for us, the Lord willing. Dr. Barrett is Academic Dean and Professor of Old Testament theology at PRTS. All committee, Bible study, club, group, & society leaders: Please submit a list of your meeting and event dates for the coming season to Julie La Rocque by August 26. Thank you! The consistory and congregation commends our young women and men college students, beginning or continuing their degree programs, to the Lord and His sparing mercies. Our prayer is that you would be kept safe and shielded from compromising the truth of Gods Word. May each of you receive the blessing of biblical discernment as you prepare for your lifes calling in service to the Lord.

Calendar
August 13-15 Family Camp. We're looking forward to seeing you at Camp Michawana on Tuesday! Just a reminder; check-in is available starting at 4:00 PM with Jim and Mary VanderGraaf near the chapel. The campground has a list of our assigned campsites, if you wish to set up earlier than that. Dinner is scheduled to begin at 6:00 PM on Tuesday, to allow more time for travel to camp. From the Family Camp Committee August 13 (Tuesday) Family Camp Bikes If you would like your bikes brought to family camp please place them on the yellow truck by 3:30 PM, Tuesday. The truck will be in the Northpointe Christian School parking lot next door to PRTS. The bikes will be brought back there Thursday night after camp. You may call Henk Kleyn with questions, 616-780-9426. August 21 (Wednesday) 6:30 PM Vacation Bible School August 27 (Tuesday) Elders meeting 7-8 PM. Full Consistory meeting starts at 8.

Other News
The Heritage Voices Choir will begin practicing on Monday, Aug 26th at 7:30 PM, DV. This is a bit earlier than usual, but necessary as we plan to participate in the Sept 27th Everhard Zwart concert. Please mark your calendars and we hope to see everyone then. Thank you to all who participated in and gave toward the Word & Deed annual softball tournament this year. The Lord richly blessed the day in gifts for Nicaragua projects and in fellowship with others in local churches. In lieu of a fall dinner this year, we are planning an auction on September 21, 2013 to benefit the Nakekela Clinic in South Africa. If you have a service or product you can contribute or if youd like to volunteer in some capacity, please contact Susie Osmun at 361.8096. Installation of Rev. D. H.
