The Government College, Tumkur was established in 1940 as an Intermediate College. In 2009, Tumkur University recognized the College as a constituent college of the University and renamed it University College of Arts. Over the years, the institution has been offering courses in Arts & Commerce. The college has a dedicated and qualified team of teachers. At present, the college has nearly 42 teaching, and 20 non-teaching staff. Nearly 3000 students are pursuing their education in the Arts and Commerce streams. Situated in a sprawling 25-acre plot, the college houses 25 spacious lecture halls, a very well equipped library with more than 50,000 titles and 55,000 volumes of books on different disciplines, along with journals, magazines, newspapers and a spacious reading and reference section. The college is a pioneer in delivering quality education and is arguably among the most prestigious colleges affiliated to Tumkur University. SUBMISSION PROCEDURE: Soft copy of abstract can be submitted directly to jyothi@tumkuruniversity.in on or before March 20th 2013. Authors of the selected abstracts will be notified by April 10TH 2013. Authors of the selected abstracts have to submit the full paper along with hard copy on or before April 20th 2013. PUBLICATION OF CONFERENCE PROCEEDINGS: All the submitted research papers will be shortlisted and published in an edited volume with ISBN. REGISTRATION FEES: FOREIGN DELEGATES: US$: 80 INDIAN DELEGATES: Teachers/ Academics Rs. 1000.00 Research scholars Rs. 1000.00 Students Rs. 200.00 Registration does not include accommodation charges. The last date for registration is April 20th, 2013. The registration will be confirmed only after receiving the delegation fee through Demand Draft. DD may be drawn in favor of "The Finance Officer, Tumkur University, Tumkur" payable at State Bank of Mysore, Tumkur, Karnataka, India .Co-authors also have to register by paying the full registration fees in order to participate in the conference. CALL FOR PAPERS: Research papers which are original and not published elsewhere are invited from academics, researchers and practitioners on various sub-themes mentioned above or on any issues related to the main theme of the conference. ABSTRACT: Papers shall be accompanied by an abstract of 250 -300 words along with 3-5 keywords. FULL PAPER: Manuscript of the full paper in MS-Word 97-2007 format should not exceed 10-15 pages or (5500 to 6000words) including figures and tables in length. The Conference
The aim of the Conference is to deliberate upon Research trends in English Studies. English Studies in Departments of English in Indian Universities and abroad has undergone radical changes in the post colonial context. In the present crisis in English Studies, it is time to assess Research Trends in the area and look forward for changes. So the conference is organized to discuss the challenges the English studies are facing.
