Gist Article 1 Tobacco smokes contain over 4000 chemicals which is chemically active. They can be damaging to the smokers body as they can start dramatic and fatal changes. Scientists and doctor nowadays, know more about the bad effect of smoking than before. Smoking can cause short-term effect to the smokers body such as, increasing heart rates and blood pressure, constricts the airways and deprives the body tissues. There are also the long term effects of smoking which is cause the lung cancers and other respiratory diseases. Smokers usual have higher risk for the diseases and other cancer compare to nonsmokers. The nicotine that contain in the tobacco is an addictive drug which make it very hard, but not impossible for them to quit smoking. Smoking also harms the secondhand smoker, the person who breathes the smokers cigarette smoke. Young teenagers are more likely to start smoking if both parents smoking. Person who quit smoking can will have better taste preference, cut the risk of cancer and other diseases, and save the money. Smoking will affect the whole body. Smoker has the risk to for mouth cancer, gum disease, tooth decay, bad breath and unsightly teeth. They may experiences frequent headaches and lead to strokes. Smokers are 10 times as likely to lung cancer and emphysema as nonsmokers. Digestive systems also affected by smoking where the can trigger more cancer and kidney damage. Women who smoke have higher risk for cervical cancer. Luckily, the body will repair itself if smokers quit smoking and most of the body has repaired most of the damage after ten years you quit.

Nowadays, smoking is banned in almost public place and cigarette company are no longer allowed to advertise their product like what they did long time ago. Tobacco contains nicotine which is highly addictive and that is why smoking is an addition. People start smoking for many reason and most of them started before they are 18 years old. Usually, our body will feel some pain when we first try tobacco in order to defense when it is being poisoned. Over the long term, smoker has higher risk for many dangerous diseases which limit a persons ability to be normally active, and they can be fatal. Smokers also lose bone density and lead to osteoporosis. They may also have fertility problem both in men and women. Smoker will experience many problems such as bad skin, breath, and the smell of their clothes and hair, greater risk injury, slower healing time and increased risk of illness. Other than cigarette, hookahs and e-cigarette are the other things that get people dependent on tobacco. The product like low-tar-cigarette does not help to substitute products that seem like they are better for you than regular cigarette because there is no such thing as a safe nicotine product. The only thing that helps person to avoid the problems is staying smoke free. Today, the number of teens who smoke has drop dramatically. There are lots of information and support for those who want to quit smoke. It might be hard from the start but staying smoke free will gives you a lot of benefits.

Reflection/Discussion Cigarettes are well known by everyone in this world. It is believed that the origin of cigarette took place in America. Cigarette smoke contains thousands of harmful chemicals, including cyanide, benzene, formaldehyde, methanol, acetylene and ammonia, and also poisonous gases such as nitrogen oxide and carbon monoxide. People smoke for many different reasons. They might start smoking because people around them are smoking. Children who grow up in a family who smoke usually will smoke too. Peer influence might be one of the reasons, teenager love to try something new and doing some experimenting. When there are in a group where all of them are smoking, teen will start smoking and be like their friends. Other than that, the might started smoking in order to reduce tension on show their rebellion toward people. Most people start smoking when they are in their teens and been addicted by the time they reach adulthood. Statistic shows that 9 out of 10 smoker start before they are 18 years old. However, scientist and doctor know so much more about the effect of smoking than ever today. People also getting more concern about how bad smoking is for our health. Statistic show that, the number of teen who smoke has dropped dramatically as there are only 20% of high school students smoke which mean only 1 out of 5 of them is smoking. Nowadays, smoking is restricted or banned in almost all public places and cigarette company are no longer allowed to advertise their product. In Malaysia, we can see that, there is a picture of the disease that cause by smoking on every pack of cigarette. Everyone knows smoking is bad for us. It causes many bad effects to the smoker and also to the person who breathe the smokers cigarette smoke, also known as secondhand smoke. Non-smokers inhaling secondhand smoke share some of the health risks smokers face. The effect might be worse than we thought us especially for the children who increase the risk for middle ear problems, lower respiratory tract infections and asthma. Smoking will affect the whole body of smoker. It might give the short term and long term effect towards the body. For short term effect, a smoker might have gum disease, tooth decay, and bad breath. Their teeth might become unsightly and yellow. The skins of a smoker often appear pale and unhealthy and increase the risk of getting psoriasis, a type of skin rash. Smoker also has a badsmelling clothes and hair as it is hard to get the smell out. They will face greater risk of injury and it might take more time to heal it than nonsmokers as smoking will affect the ability to produce collagen. Smoking also increase the risk of illness and smoker get more colds, flu, headache, bronchitis and pneumonia. Lack of oxygen and narrow blood vessel to the brain which

cause the headache will lead to strokes. In long term period, smoker has higher risk for many type of cancer such as lung, mouth, throat, stomach, bladder, pancreatic, and cervical cancer. Heart and lung is the most affected part in smoker body because the smoke passes through the bronchi and attack the wall of bronchi. Smoker has higher intention to get heart attack when the carbon monoxide rob the oxygenated blood and lead the development of cholesterol deposited on the artery walls. Smokers digestive system will be affected as smoking will increase stomach acid secretion, leading to heartburn and ulcers. Carcinogens from cigarette are excreted in the urine and can cause bladder cancer. High pressure from smoking also can damage the kidneys. Moreover, smoking also cause fertility problems and can impact sexual health in both men and women. It also can increase serious health problems for the girls who are on pill or other hormone base methods of birth control. Women who smoke has higher risk of getting cervical cancer, and pregnant women who smoke will affect their unborn babies and increase the risk of getting unhealthy such as low birth weight, prematurity, spontaneous abortion, and perinatal mortality in human which refer to the fatal tobacco syndrome. If all women quit smoking during pregnancy, about 4000 new babies would not die each year. Last but not least, smoking will cause them to lose bone density, and increase the risk of osteoporosis. Normally, the disease only occurs to the older people where the bone will break more easily and bend. 40% of men who are heavy smoker will died before they reach retirement age, as compared to only 18% of nonsmokers. Therefore it is better for the smokers out there to quit smoking before it is too late. It is hard for the first time because tobacco contain nicotine which is highly addictive. It is the same when we are taking and addictive drug such as heroin. It take us longer time to brake the addiction. At this time, people who decide to quit smoke can get support and lots of information everywhere. We got many campaigns for them to quit smoking. Not only the person who smokes, people around them also can enjoy thousand benefits from quitting smoke. For example, the person who quit smoking will have better taste and smell towards food. The short term and long term effect of smoking will be cut. When you quit smoking, the body will begins to repair itself and after ten years quitting smoking, the body has repaired most of the damage caused by smoking. Smoking also can reduce your monthly expenses, when you do not have to spend the money to buy tobacco anymore. The alternative of increasing the tobacco price also can reduce the addiction of tobacco. Quitting smoking may be hard but it is not impossible. Other than cigarette, hookahs and electrical cigarettes are the other ways that get people dependent on

tobacco. Hookahs, known as shisha are water pipe used to smoke tobacco through a hose with a trapped mouthpiece. An e-cigarette, is an electrical device that simulates the act of tobacco smoking by producing an inhaled vapor bearing the physical sensation, appearance, and often the flavor of inhaled tobacco smoke, without its odor or. Both of the tobacco may look safer than cigarette, but they also harmful and dangerous as it. There is no such thing as a safe nicotine product. Therefore we should not start taking tobacco, because it is easy to start but hard to stop the addiction.
