Overview
This guide provides information on software prerequisites and requirements to install and uninstall Dell Client Integration Pack (DCIP) for Microsoft System Center 2012 Configuration Manager (Configuration Manager.) The DCIP for Configuration Manager is an easy-to-use GUI-based tool to configure and deploy your Dell client systems. The DCIP for Configuration Manager integrates directly into the Configuration Manager console. It eliminates the need for command-line tools and scripts normally used in the Client Configuration Toolkit. It also adds new functionality for remote management both in- and out-of-band. These features include: Support for Microsoft System Center 2012 Configuration Manager OMCI/CCTK integration Dell warranty tracking Intel AMT out-of-band management features.

Pre-requisites to Install DCIP

This section lists the pre-requisites to install DCIP for Configuration Manager: Install Configuration Manager 2012 on the system where you will install DCIP for Configuration Manager. For details on how to download and install Configuration Manager, see the Microsoft TechNet site at technet.microsoft.com. NOTE: DCIP 3.0 is not supported on older versions of Configuration Manager. Ensure that the Windows PowerShell is installed and configured on the system running DCIP for Configuration Manager. For more information see the Microsoft Knowledge Base on Windows PowerShell at support.microsoft.com/kb/968930. Make sure that .NET version 4.0 installed on the system where you will install DCIP for Configuration Manager. NOTE: If installing only the Warranty Utility, make sure that .Net 4 Client Profile is installed. Configure the Network Access Account to run the Configuration Manager task sequences on your client system. For more information, see Configuring Your Network Access Account. You must install all components of DCIP excluding the Warranty Utility on the same system where Configuration Manager console is installed. You must have administrative access on the target systems.

Supported Operating Systems

For the list of operating systems and systems that the DCIP for Configuration Manager supports, see the readme.txt in the installation directory.

Configuring Network Access Account

To configure the network access account: 1. 2. 3. 4. Launch Configuration Manager, select Start All Programs Microsoft System Center 2012 Configuration Manager Configuration Manager Console. In Configuration Manager console, click Administration. Expand Overview Site Configuration and click Sites. Right-click the site you want to configure, select Configure Site Components Software Distribution.

The Software Distribution Component Properties screen is displayed. 5. 6. Click the Network Access Account tab. Select the Specify the account that accesses network locations option and then click Set. These options are listed in the drop-down menu: Existing Account New Account 7. To use an already existing account. To add a new account.

Click Existing Account. The Select Account screen is displayed, select your user account and then click OK. Or Click New Account. The Windows User Account screen is displayed. Enter the administrator credentials for accessing Configuration Manager from client systems, and then click OK. The user name is displayed in the Account field.

Installing DCIP for Configuration Manager

Before you proceed, ensure that you are logged in as administrator on the system where you want to install DCIP for Configuration Manager. On systems without Configuration Manager only the Warranty Utility is installed. To install DCIP for Configuration Manager: 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. 8. 9. Go to support.dell.com. Select the product, which is ideally the client system you are targeting. Select the operating system. In the Category field, select Systems Management. Click Download adjacent to Dell Client Integration Pack. Download the Dell_Client_Integration_Pack.zip and extract the contents to a folder on the local drive of the system that runs the Configuration Manager Site Server. Run the Dell_Client_Integration_Pack.msi package. The Welcome screen for DCIP is displayed. Click Next. The license agreement is displayed. Select the I accept the terms in the license agreement option and then click Next. The Setup Type screen is displayed. 10. Select Complete Installation or Custom Installation based on your requirement.

Complete Installation
1. 2. 3. On the Setup Type screen, select Complete and click Next. The Click Install to begin the installation screen is displayed. Click Install. After the installation is complete, the Installation Completed Successfully screen is displayed. Click Finish.

Custom Installation
1. On the Setup Type screen, select Custom and click Next. You can install the following components of Dell Client Integration Pack: Configuration Manager Plugin Warranty Utility Intel vPro OOB Management Extensions.

NOTE: All the components are selected to install by default. 2. 3. 4. 5. Click on the drop-down icon to select/deselect a component of DCIP. Click Next. The Ready to Install the Program screen is displayed. Click Install. After the installation is complete, the Installation Completed Successfully screen is displayed. Click Finish.

Using the Modify Option in the Installer

The Modify option on the DCIP for Configuration Manager installer, modifies the program features that are installed. This option enables you to perform the following actions: Install a feature that you did not install earlier. Remove a feature that you have installed earlier.

To install a feature that you did not install earlier: 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. Run the Dell_Client_Integration_Pack.msi package from the folder where you extracted it. The Welcome screen for DCIP is displayed. Click Next. The installer displays three options. Select the Modify option. Click Next. Select the component you want to install or uninstall. Click Next. The Click Install to begin the installation screen is displayed. Click Install. After the installation is complete, the Installation Completed Successfully screen is displayed. Click Finish.

Using the Repair Option in the Installer

This feature repairs any installation errors that may have occurred when you were installing DCIP for Configuration Manager. 1. 2. 3. Run the Dell_Client_Integration_Pack.msi package from the folder where you have extracted it. The Welcome screen for DCIP is displayed. Click Next. On the next window select Repair and click Next.

Upgrading to DCIP Version 3.0 For Configuration Manager

There is no upgrade option as DCIP version 3.0 is supported only on Configuration Manager 2012 .

Uninstalling DCIP for Configuration Manager

To uninstall DCIP for Configuration Manager: 1. 2. 3. Click Start Control Panel Programs Uninstall a program. Right-click Dell Client Integration Pack for Microsoft ConfigMgr 2012 and click Uninstall. Follow the instructions on the screen to complete the uninstallation.

You can also run the Dell_Client_Integration_Pack.msi file, select Remove, and follow the instructions on the screen.

Troubleshooting
This section contains troubleshooting information for DCIP for Configuration Manager.

Error: Cannot Delete Log File while Uninstalling DCIP

While uninstalling DCIP for Configuration Manager through Add/Remove programs, if you receive an error that says that the log file cannot be deleted, uninstall DCIP through the installer. NOTE: You can also right-click on the installer and select uninstall. Alternatively you can restart the system and then select uninstall from Add/Remove programs.

Error While Uninstalling DCIP

An error stating that Error opening installation log file. Verify that the specified log file location exists and is writable appears while uninstalling DCIP through the Add or Removing Programs. Restart the system running DCIP and then perform the uninstall steps.
