The regrading of the Red Trail at Oak Mountain State Park as reported in the January BUMPNEWS has begun. Most of the trail on the top of the mountain has been reworked at this writing. The purpose of the regrading is to restore the original drainage structures of the old road to prevent continued erosion. Although the trail looks very different immediately after it has been regraded, within a year the it should look much like it did before, minus the erosion. We are still working to provide additional trail access at 0 ak Mountain. T he park is open to the idea and we are in the process of negotiating the exact location of the additional trail(s). BUMP is also in the process of negotiating for new bicycle trails in the National Forests in Alabama. T his will be done strictly by the volunteer effort of cyclists. Anyone interested in volunteering for either or both of these projects should contact Bill Harrington at the numbers listed below.

At the February meeting, we decided to schedule another weekend trip on March 15 - 17. The newly appointed trail committee met to determine where to go and to propose a future out of town ride schedule. T he schedule is: March' 5-17, Pisgah National Forest near Brevard" North Carolina, Trip Leader - EUis Ryan 879-5700.
