After a sumptuous dinner over pork chops, chicken and beef dishes, came the parade of sweets, from assorted cakes to the famous Lachis Sans Rival. I find their pastries light and sweet, enough for you to ask for more without the feeling of being fed up. Lachis Sans Rival is Dabawenyos answer to people with a sweet tooth.

Lachi's Parade of Sweet Desserts Twins Mel and Mike Aviles owns the place and been making their original pastries for years now, they are located at Ruby Street, Marfori Heights, 8000 Davao City, Philippines ready to serve you from 11 AM 8 PM. Although they are accepting walk-in guests, its better for you to make reservations to have sure sits and prevent waiting on line. Have a Crab at Grab-A-Crab Just a jeep away from Downtown Davao is Abreeza Mall, houses Grab-A-Crab restaurant, the place where you want to try out delicious Crabs and more. We arrived at the restaurant a little late for lunch, basically tummies are already having tantrums. But Grab-A-Crab prepared something that made us a happy camper. Garlic Crab

Grab-A-Crab's interior and dishes One by one, food came out, from Grab-A-Crab Noodles, Spicy Shrimp, Chicken Asparagus Soup, Sweet & Sour Pork to the Garlic Crab, the restaurants signature dish. My p ersonal favorite (even if I have allergies) was the Spicy Shrimp & the Garlic Crab. A Good Midnight Snack at Kusina Dabaw Good thing Kusina Dabaw is just across the street where Im staying, so if you want a quick merienda fix or a good midnight snack try their Siopao. I ordered Siopao Asado, apparently asado in Davao have salted eggs unlike here in Manila.

Kusina Dabaw's Siopao Asado Kusina Dabaw is open 24 hours a day; aside from their meriendas, they serve breakfast, lunch and dinner. Interiors of the restaurant reminds me of the 80s, simple and basic actually the whole stretch of San Pedro street does look like Bian, Laguna during the 80s. Like Coke Float

Durian Fruit Finally, tried eating Durian; at first I was a bit hesitant, but when they told me that they drink Coke with Durian, I got curious, so I gave in. Surprisingly it tasted like coke float! During Kadayawan festival, you can see allot of Durian Stands along the streets, so there's no excuse for you not to try it. Bulca Chong Restaurant is located at General Luna near Gaisano Illustre just a block or two after Apo View Hotel. Jam's Restaurant: Tuna Dishes Galore Jam's is owned by a local businesswoman who is into fish processing and exporting. It's a given that she serves only the freshest and the most tasty seafood to her clients. its specialty are tuna dishes. Not to be missed is the Chicken Tinola (chicken soup with unripe papaya). Favorite Dish: Grilled Tuna Jaw - this local delicacy when grilled to perfection should be eaten with bare hands. You should dip it into a sauce mixture of soy sauce, vinegar and lemon as locals do. Kanto: Grilled food must try resto called "Kanto" They are serving the so called "sause" on your grilled foods......................when asked how this sauce where made/prepared they will not tell you....................secret................ingredients................. Favorite Dish: Grilled chicken liver to mashed into sauce...........

Marieta's: One of GenSan barbecue's oldest Marieta's is one of GenSan's oldest barbecue places, it offers a variety of barbecues. Favorite Dish: Must try is the isaw or chicken intestine.

Sud-an: The best Crispy Pata The place is decent enough. With air conditioning and clean restrooms. Favorite Dish: Their crispy pata (deep fried pork leg) is the best I've tasted so far. Juicy inside with very crispy skin. yummm. Address: Santiago St. Best Chicharong Bulaklak - Hands down, Mooon Cafe delivers the best chicharong bulaklak in Davao City. I am certain that they marinated the pork innards before frying them to its crispy perfection. This can already pass as a full viand than an appetizer. Best Shabu-shabu meal - Shabu-shabu is always a messy affair for me until I tried Tong Yang ShabuShabu & Grill. Not only is the waiter at your beck and call, they can also do the cooking for you or just opt for them to guide you any newbie in this manner of dining will definitely enjoy and Im not even talking about the food which is really superb. Best Crispy Fried Chicken - If you advertise your fried chicken as greaseless then you must really mean it. Yellow Fin Seafood & Restaurant wowed me the first time I tried their prized offering. One look at this crispy fried chicken and youd want to take a bite immediately. Eat it with your bare hands and enjoy it even more. Best Fish Teriyaki - They may be pricey but Nonki Japanese Restaurant gives value for your money. Ive always liked having gindara (cod fish) served grilled or soup-based. So when I tried it in teriyake mode, I was floored. Its sweetness doesnt overwhelm and that for me is classic! Best Pork Knuckles Meal - Dining at Alors (A Home Kitchen) is like enjoying your mothers home-cooked meal. Among their varied food choices, my favorite is their PATATIM. Set in a bed of pechay leaves, this ones my favorite among a bevy of other great meals for you. Best Chicken Rice Meal - Trellis n Vine Restaurant wowed me with their Chicken Biryani Rice, a curryflavored offering whose taste and smell never overwhelms. It can be shared by three people and is a complete meal in itself already. Best Pasta Combo Meals - Hands down Wings & Dip Cafeteria earns my vote. With so much variety of choices, chances are youd want to try them all. This is the best thing that happened to pasta!

Best Chicken Skin Chicharon - I know, I know. this is so unhealthy but what the heck Sunburst Fried Chickens chicken skin chicharon is very addicting. Once youve started munching on one piece, you cant stop. Make sure that those blood pressure medicines handy when you feast on this. Best Crispy Pata - This is one of their bestsellers and you should not miss it when you go to Rancheros Davao. I love the crispiness of the pork skin and what gives it more star points is the tenderness of the meat and its taste purely heaven! Best Appetizer - Handuraw Pizza prides themselves of their thin-crust pizza but what really scored big for me is their deep fried Mozzarella Triangles with mayo dip. Just the thought of it makes me salivate now. Its like eating tacos without the mess. GENSAN 1. Trully Dried Fruits- you can buy these from TWS Ventures along National Highway. Its in the building right next to TBoli Hotel. Dried fruits include mango, pineapple, papaya and a tropical mix. I personally like the pineapple. The mango is a little bit unnaturally sweet. The price is really affordable too. 2. Sarangani Bay Bottled Milkfish in Oil- I swear this bottle is addictive! Its superb! The price is reasonable compared to other brands but the taste is so worth it and more. 3. Kablon Farm Products- Aside from their already famous tablea, fruit preserves and juices, I like their peppercorn. You can really smell the spice when you grind it through the peppermill. 4. RDEX Shrimps (peeled, deveined and tail-on or without tail)- These convenient packs of shrimps which are already peeled and deveined is already a regular in my grocery list. Easy to use and really, the price might seem outrageous when you first hear it (at around P 200 for half a kilo), for me its worth the price when you do not have to peel and devein and throw away wasted head and shells. 5. Jo-anns siopao- If you are serious about bringing these heavenly treats, buy them the day before your travel, freeze and store properly enroute. Sream before serving. 6. Gelatin bar and Judys Misua- For some reasons, my mother just likes these varieties better than those available in Luzon. I personally have tried these and they are indeed better than those although those found in Luzon are not bad either. 1. Jo-Anns Bakeshoppes Siopao Yummy! The best siopao I have ever tasted. 2. Orange Bistros Beef Salpicao- Its good! 3. Sarangani Highlands Pansit and Butterfly Shrimps- The pansit has that pansit smell and taste that is really good. Butterfly Shrimps is Doc As recipe. 4. Yollys Palabok- need I say more? 5. Barbecue from this small stall in front of Purok Malakas Market 6. Cafe Leticias Bachoy (Family Country Hotel)- if you have fever, their bachoy will make you well! 7. Rancheros Baby Back Ribs 8. I Love Sushis Katsudon 9. Sunset Cafes Chicken Pandan and Fried Balut (not sure about the title) 1. Best Tuna Kinilaw Newbie Al Fresco Resto and KTV Bar piYESta serves an intriguing new taste in their Kinilaw na Chada. Their secret ingredient is the lemon slices straight from CDO. 2. Best Kare-kare Le Jardin Arnevel cooks up a storm with their kare-kare. Even without the bagoong siding, ang sarap pa rin. 3. Best Imbao Soup I have shifted my allegiance to Lagao Maks super-duper imbao soup. Tamang-tama lang ang lasa and the ginger is not too over-powering. Their unassuming resto is located along Aparente Avenue. 4. Best Suman sa Lejia Not surprisingly, Ate Mings Kakanin wins my vote big thanks to their sweet gravy. Ham it up with your hot choco!

5. Best Sinugbang Hito Nikolais Ihaw-ihaw offers the best marinated hito in town. What I like is that they grill it just right and therefore leaves the hito, soft and succulent. 6. Best Humba Meal Who would imagine that Gaisanos Port Cafe serves the most affordable serving of humba rice in Gensan? And you get a free iced tea for every order. Spazio Cafe also serves this great find. 7. Best Kambing Meals The best kaldereta, papaitan, sinampalukan and kilawin in Gensan is still at Goatbingan along Pendatun Avenue. It helps that their eatery smells and looks clean. 8. Best Balut Hands down, the balut vendors along the highway going to Barangay Baluan sells the besttasting balut in the city. Try their spicy vinegar as sauce for your balut and youll be in food heaven! 9. Best Steak My vote still goes to Rolands Steak House. Their steak may just be local beef but they sure taste like real Angus Beef! 10. Best Durian Float Kring Macions Marasa Grill durian float tops even their best carenderia serving. 11. Best Halo-Halo - This time, I will go for Razons. Its simplicity just wins me over. With just macapuno, saging na saba and leche flan, this one is probably the tastiest ever. Its almost snow-flake-like crushed ice makes this an even more exhilarating find. Go for Razons Halo-halo at Sun City Complex and KCC Mall. 12. Best Siopao - After trying every siopao in town, Joans Bakeshoppes siopao is still my choice for the best siopao. There are pretenders to the siopao-throne but thats just the way its gonna be because Joans siopao still reigns supreme. 13. Best Lomi - Order it from Uno Cafe or Big Chow and youll still get the best hot noodle soup in Gensan. Each serving cost 100 pesos and is food for two persons. When Im under the weather, this lomi is my comfort medicine. Surprisingly, I immediately get energized after consuming my fill of this lomi. 14. Best Strawberry Milkshake - There can only be one great strawberry milkshake. And onlyShakeys Pizza Restaurant can deliver the creamiest and tastiest strawberry milkshake. Would you believe that I can consume two orders in one sitting? Get yourself one now! 15. Best Pinaputok na Tilapia - Daniellas Diner along Tiongson Arcade cooks up a storm with their Pinaputok na Tilapia! I saw how they prepare this and I must say that it is worth every centavo. I can understand if they are very generous with the ingredients but when they included half of a butter brick in the foiled-wrap tilapia, I was floored! No wonder it taste so good! 16. Best Combo Meals - If youre a group of five famished individuals and are on a tight budget then this is for you. PiYesta KTV & Resto Bar serves the best value-for-money combo meals but never scrimps on the ingredients. Service is superb too and the ambience is just perfect. 17. Best Iced Tea - Dont be deceived by drink -all-you-can iced tea and end up disappointed. My choice for the best Iced Tea is the one served by Cafe Amoree. Served in a tall glass, youll loved every sip and wish it were endless. And hey, theyve got free WiFi too! 18. Best Oven-Roasted Chicken - Bounty Freshs Chooks-To-Go is selling like hotcakes. Chances are youre staring on an empty display shelf. The good thing is that they are now found everywhere. Their roasted chicken has remained very tasty however it has gone smaller in size. Still, this is the best viand during emergency situations. 19. Best Thin Crust Pizza - Caldas at Gaisano Mall is a new find! Of all their pizza variants, I super love their Filipiniana Thin Crust Pizza. Topped with my fave longganisa and chorizo slices this ones a sure winner! 20. Best Sizzling Shrimp Scampi - Little Kitchen has come a long way since they opened. Not only did they expand their restaurant area, they have also added new offerings in their menu. But their Sizzling Shrimp Scampi remains my all-time favorite.
