El otro fenmeno es las flores. Vetiver raramente flores, y el nico ejemplo que tenemos es algo plantado en el jardn de nuestro personal en Tianyar, pero despus de 10 meses de crecimiento.

La otra alegra es que Vetiver parece que le encanta el mar!

Forman una presa biolgica bajo el seto y tambin "clavan" el perfil del suelo, junto prevenir que se resbale o eroding.But los agricultores de subsistencia de la capacidad races para formar una 'bio-dam "que es ms importante, ya que conserva la humedad de supervivencia de las plantas despus de germinacin, y recarga los acuferos que han sido dejadas de lado por ms de cultivo y el exceso de escorrenta. Estos acuferos son esenciales para el agua de la aldea limpia y re-suministro de arroyos perennes. Si los agricultores de subsistencia en el rea del proyecto no tienen barreras de vetiver protegen sus tierras y "regar" sus cosechas, que nunca tendrn la sostenibilidad de la produccin, y, finalmente, tienen que caminar a abandonar sus tierras.

Dear Sir/Madam We are suffering beach erosion from wave action on the nort side of Gili Meno, Lombok. I would be very interested in obtaining some Vetiver grass to try and reduce this beach erosion. Where can I get some seedlings?

The other phenomenon is the flowers. Vetiver rarely flowers, and the only other example we have is some planted in our staff's garden in Tianyar, yet after 10 months of growth. I note in your clip you say that vetiver rarely flowers? In the tropics vetiver hedges will flower profusely for a while during the season, but these flowers are totally sterile so there is no problem of 'escape' or weediness. I am pleased that you have seen the extent of the roots that were washed out of the sand. These roots are what makes vetiver different from any other plant. They form a biological dam under the hedge and also "nail" the soil profile together preventing it from slipping or eroding.But for subsistence farmers the roots ability to form a 'bio-dam' is most important as this retains moisture for plant survival after germination, and recharges aquifers that have been by-passed by over cultivation and excess runoff. These aquifers are essential for clean village water and re-supplying perennial streams. If subsistence farmers in your project area do not have vetiver hedges protecting their land and 'watering' their crops, they will never have sustainability of production, and will eventually have to walk off their land.
