What is Lathe? The m/c that is used for turning operation is called lat the several m/c are repair using lathe m/c. there fore lathe m/c is called mother of lathe m/c.

Type of Lathe Centre

1. Ordinary centre- use general purpose. 2. Half centre- used white facing the job without robbing the setting. 3. Tip centre- the tip is made of carbide or a hard dolly, steel it is hard wear resistance. 4. Boll centre- suitable for tapper turning. 5. Pipe centre- used for supporting pipe or hollow. 6. Revolving centre-used for supporting jobs. 7. Inserting centre- This is economical only the small high speed steel is insert its rest place. 8. Self driving life centre- Used for machining the centre length of the job. 9. Female centre- This centre is used to support the end of the job. 10.Swivel v centre- it is used to support a job in v person end of the job.

CHUCK This is normally used to provide a strong grit to catch the job on lathe m/c. LATHE OPPERATIONS Facing is two type 1-Rough facing 2. Finish facing. FINISH 1. Finish facing is the operation to have a some the face by removing rough surface. 2. Finish facing is done by removing rough surface. 3. Finish facing done by choosing a cutting speed about rough facing.

ROUGH 1. Rough facing is done to excess metal by giving more depth of cut. 2. Rough facing is done by feeding the tool from the perpendicular of the work. 3. With a fine feed rate of 0.05 mm approximately cut not more 0.1 mm.
