Biomimetics

Lanolin from Croda

Designed and perfected by nature, lanolin is known to contain components common to both stratum corneum lipids and the cell membrane complex of the hair. As such lanolin displays a natural affinity to both skin and hair and is able to imitate and augment many of the functions of the lipids found within them. With this biomimetic functionality, plus a host of physical and aesthetic benefits, lanolin is a unique and exceptionally versatile ingredient with proven efficacy in a wide range of personal care applications.
Cross-polarised light microscopy has demonstrated that the multi-lamella vesicles formed by stratum corneum lipids appear to be identical to those formed by lanolin.

Lanolin....a still unfolding promise

(Professor Albert Kligman) The benefits of lanolin have been unfolding for thousands of years and will continue to be revealed for many years to come. World leading dermatologists exalt the virtues of lanolin for both healthy and compromised skin and dismiss the myths and misconceptions relating to sensitisation. Many chemists have tried but all have failed to replicate the unique properties of lanolin a true gem in the crown of the personal care industry.
