RECAP: The Rainiers held a 3-1 lead before allowing 4 runs in the bottom of the 6th as Tacoma
lost to Round Rock 3-5 on Thursday night. DH Franklin Gutierrez (1x3, R, 2B), 1B Rich
Poythress (1x3, R, 2B, RBI, BB), LF Nate Tenbrink (1x4, RBI), C Brandon Bantz (1x3) and 3B
Leury Bonilla (1x2, BB) each recorded 1 of the Rainiers 5 hits. Starter Taijuan Walker
(5.1,4,5,5,4,9,HR) recorded his 3rd loss with Tacoma, allowing runs on 4 hits in 5.1 innings. RH
Jonathan Arias (1.2,2,0,0,0,0) and RH Josh Kinney (1.0,0,0,0,0,1) combined to hold the Express
scoreless over the final 2.2 innings in relief.
REHAB ASSIGNMENT: OF Franklin Gutierrez began his 4th rehabilitation assignment with
Tacoma on Aug. 11. He went 1-for-3 with 1 run scored and 1 double yesterday. Overall he is
batting .219 (37x169) with 24 runs scored, 13 doubles, 3 home runs, 25 RBI, 13 walks and 4 stolen
bases in 40 games with AAA Tacoma. Gutierrez was placed on the 15-day DL on June 25 with a
strained right hamstring. He appeared in 2 games (June 22-23) after being activated from the
disabled list on June 22. Gutierrez was on the disabled list from April 23-June 21 with the same
injury (right hamstring strain). Gutierrez was batting .267 (15x60) with 8 runs scored, 4 doubles, 5
home runs (3 leadoff HR) and 11 RBI in 18 games (15 GS in CF) this season for Seattle. This is the
6th trip to the DL for Gutierrez since the start of the 2011 season.

Overall he is 3-3 with a 4.27 ERA (22 ER, 46.1 IP) in 9 starts with Tacoma. Walker is currently the youngest player in the PCL this season
and 2nd-youngest in Triple-A. He made his Triple-A debut vs. Fresno on June 25 at Cheney Stadium (W, 6.0,3,0,0,2,4). Walker is the
youngest Rainiers pitcher to make his Triple-A debut since a 19-year-old Felix Hernandez on April 8, 2005 at Fresno.

RECAP: The Generals scored 6 runs in the bottom of the 2nd inning as Jackson cruised to a 10-1 win over Mongomery on Thursday night.
RF Jabari Blash (3x4, 3 R, 2 HR, 3 RBI, BB) hit 2 home runs and drove in a team-high 3 runs. 2B Gabriel Noriega (3x4, 2 R), DH Julio
Morban (2x4, 2 R HR, 2 RBI, BB), 3B Ramon Morla (2x5, R, 2 RBI) and 1B Ji-Man Choi (2x5, 2B, 2 RBI) each record mult-hit games.
Starter Trevor Miller (5.0,5,1,0,3,2) recorded his 2nd AA win, allowing 1 run (o ER) on 5 hits in 5.0 innings. RH Forrest Snow
(2.0,0,0,0,1,2), RH Stephen Shackleford (1.0,1,0,0,0,1) and RH Moises Hernandez (1.0,1,0,0,2,0) combined to hold the Biscuits
scoreless over the final 4.0 innings in relief.
OF NOTE: INF Chris Taylor is batting .316 (18x57) with 12 runs scored, 1 double, 1 triple, 3 RBI, 5 walks and 4 stolen bases in 14 games
in August. After allowing 5 runs over his first 6 appearances of the season, RH Carson Smith has allowed only 5 earned runs over his last
33 relief appearances. During this stretch he is 0-1 with 8 saves and a 1.16 ERA (5 ER, 38.2 IP). Since April 22, Smith has lowered his
ERA from 8.44 to 2.05. Smith has struck out at least 1 batter in 34 of 39 games (62 strikeouts). LH Kyle Hunter has held oppoents
scoreless in 25 of 30 appearances this season. Overall he is 3-0 with 1 save and a 1.07 ERA (6 ER, 50.2 IP). He has limited opponents to
a .219 (41x187), while walking 12 and striking out 36. RH Stephen Kohlscheen has allowed only 2 earned runs over his last 23.0 innings
(0.78 ERA), including holding opponents scoreless over the last 5.0 innings in relief. During this 13-game stretch (since June 26), he is 3-0
while lowering his season ERA from 3.60 to 2.48.

RECAP: DH Dillon Hazlett and RF Kevin Rivers drove in back-to-back runs in the top of the 3rd
inning as High Desert defeated Rancho Cucamonga 2-1 on Thursday night. Hazlett (2x4, R, 2B,
RBI, SB) led the team with 2 hits, while Rivers (1x4, 2B, RBI), 3B Patrick Kivlehan (1x4), LF
Patrick Brady (1x3, 2B, BB), C Steven Baron (1x4) and CF Jabari Henry (1x4, R, 2B) each
recorded 1 of the teams 7 hits. Starter Jordan Shipers (6.0,5,1,1,1,4) recorded his 3rd win,
allowing 1 run on 5 hits in 6.0 innings. RH Matt Brazis (1.1,1,0,0,0,1), RH Grady Wood
(0.2,0,0,0,1,0) and RH Mayckol Guaipe (1.0,1,0,0,0,2) combined to hold the Quakes scoreless
over the final 3.0 innings. Guaipe struck out 2 in the 9th inning to earn his 4th save.
OF NOTE: INF Patrick Kivlehan has hit safely in the last 19 games, batting .408 (31x76) with 20
runs scored, 6 doubles, 6 home runs, 24 RBI, 7 walks and 3 stolen bases. His 19-game hit streak is
currently the longest active streak in the California League, while T2nd-longest in the league this
season. It is the 2nd longest streak by a Mavericks player this season (21-INF Ji-Man Choi, 4/275/22 & 18-INF Anthony Phillips, 4/11-5/3). Kivlehan has recorded 23 RBI in 12 games in August,
which currently leads all minor league players in the month of August. INF OF Jamal Austin has hit
safely in 13 of his last 16 games, batting .397 (27x68) with 18 runs scored, 2 double, 1 triple, 6 RBI,
6 walks and 7 stolen bases. He has hit safely in 28 of his last 35 games, batting .366 (52x142) with
34 runs scored, 6 doubles, 5 triples, 22 RBI, 13 walks and 12 stolen bases. OF Kevin Rivers has
hit safely in 16 of his last 18 games, batting .400 (30x75) with 14 runs scored, 8 doubles, 1 triple, 5
home runs, 20 RBI and 7 walks. Since July 14, Rivers is batting .380 (41x108) with 19 runs scored,
12 doubles, 1 triple, 5 home runs, 24 RBI and 10 walks in 26 games. Dating back to July 22 with
Clinton, INF Ketel Marte has hit safely in 18 of his last 21 games with an at-bat, batting .435
(40x92) with 14 runs scored, 5 doubles, 2 triples, 10 RBI, 5 walks and 5 stolen bases.
KIVLEHAN NAMED CALIFORNIA PLAYER OF THE WEEK: 3B Patrick Kivlehan was named
California Player of the Week, August 5-11. Kivlehan hit safely in all 6 games he appeared during
the week, batting .520 (13x25) with 8 runs scored, 6 extra-base hits (3-2B, 3-HR), 16 RBI and 3
walks. He drove in 11 of his 16 RBI in back-to-back games, Aug. 8-9. His 16 RBI led all MiL players
during the week.

7/26/13 at Reno) in the PCL, Jose Lopez in the Mexican League (6x6, 3 R, 2 RBI 7/28/13 vs. Laguna) Alan Sanchez of Oaxaca in the
Mexican League (6x8, 5 R, 2 RBI, BB - 5/9/13 vs. Carmen), Moises Sierra with Buffalo in the International League (6x6, 5 R, 2B, 3B, 3 RBI
- 4/18/13 at Syracuse), Alfredo Despaigne with Campeche in the Mexican League (6x6, 4 R, HR, RBI - 7/03/2013 at Saltillo) and Willy
Garcia with Bradenton in the Florida State League (6x6, 2 R, HR, 2 RBI at St. Lucie - 6/24/2013). Almonte is the first PCL player to record 6
hits in a game since Bryan Anderson went 6-for-6 against Tucson on May 24, 2012.
30/30: The Mavericks recorded 30 hits and scored 30 runs en route to a 30-8 win over Lancaster on August 9. The Mavericks recorded at
scored 10 runs in the first and 2nd innings, while recording at least 2 hits in 4 additional innings. The 30 run fell short of the California
League record for most runs by one team in a game, as Fresno scored 34 against Ventura on May 23, 1947. The highest scoring game in
Cal League history took place at Stater Bros. Stadium on June 28, 2009, with Lake Elsinore defeating High Desert 33-18.
Since 2005, the Mavericks are the 6th minor league team to score at least 25 runs and record at least 30 hits in a game. The Mavericks
join the Tacoma Rainiers in the PCL (6/19/13 at Colorado Springs, 25 runs, 30 hits), the Visalia Rawhide in the California League (5/15/12
at High Desert, 26 runs, 31 hits), Lake Elsinore in the California League (6/28/09 at High Desert, 33 runs, 32 hits), Vaqueros Laguna in
the Mexican League (7/5/08 at Pericos de Puebla, 30 runs, 30 hits) and Diablos Rojos del Mexico in the Mexican League (4/3/07 vs. Potros
de Tijuana, 26 runs, 31 hits) as the only minor league teams to accomplish this feat in the last 8 seasons.

RECAP: 1B Taylor Ard (1x5, RBI) hit a walk-off single with 2 outs in the bottom of the 9th inning as Clinton defeated Quad Cities 6-5 on
Thursday night. 3B Jordy Lara (3x4, 2B, 3 RBI) led the team with 3 hits and drove in 3 runs after replacing 3B D.J. Peterson in to top of
the 3rd inning. SS Martin Peguero (3x4, R, 2 RBI) and C Tyler Marlette (2x3, 2 R, 2 BB) each record multi-hit games. Starter Scott
DeCecco (6.0,7,4,4,2,5,HR) allowed 4 runs on 7 hits in 6.0 innings, but did not figure into the decision. RH George Mieses (2.0,1,1,1,0,3)
allowed a run in the top of the 7th, while RH Jochi Ogando (1.0,0,0,1,0) tossed a scoreless 9th inning to earn his 1st win with Clinton.
OF NOTE: INF D.J. Peterson has hit safely in 9 of his last 13 games, batting .340 (17x50) with 9 runs scored, 2 doubles, 1 triple, 4 home
runs, 9 RBI, 3 walks and 1 stolen base. OF Dario Pizzano is batting .388 (19x49) with 10 runs scored, 4 doubles, 3 triples, 1 home run, 9
RBI, 4 walks and 1 stolen base in 12 games in the month of August. C Tyler Marlette has hit safely in his last 13 games with 6 multi-hit
contests, batting .404 (21x52) with 8 runs scored, 5 doubles, 3 RBI, 6 walks and 2 stolen bases. Tim Lopes has hit safely in 14 of his last
18 games, batting .338 (22x65) with 11 runs scored, 7 doubles, 2 triples, 1 home run, 13 RBI, 5 walks and 3 stolen bases. He also hit .338
(27x80) with 8 runs scored, 5 doubles, 11 RBI, 4 walks and 4 stolen base in 22 games in July. LH Tyler Pike is 6-1 with a 2.39 ERA (18
ER, 78.1 IP) in his last 14 starts. LH Scott DeCecco is 4-1 with a 3.18 ERA (16 ER, 45.1 IP) in last 7 starts. Overall this season he is 9-7
with a 4.49 ERA (59 ER, 128.1 IP) in 23 starts this season.
PETERSON NAMED MIDWEST LEAGUE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: INF D.J. Peterson was name Midwest League Player of the Week,
August 5-11. Peterson hit safely in 6 of 7 games during the, batting .429 (12x28) with 7 runs scored, 2 doubles, 2 home runs, 7 RBI, 3
walks and 1 stolen base. Entering last week, Peterson was batting .195 (8x41) with 6 runs scored, 2 doubles, 1 triple, 3 home runs and 6
RBI. Overall he is batting .303 (54x178) with 32 runs scored, 9 doubles, 1 triple, 12 home runs, 39 RBI and 18 walks in 46 games
combined between Everett and Clinton. Despite only appearing in 46 games, Peterson currently ranks T9th in the Mariners organization
with 12 home runs.
Todays probable starter: RH David Holman (2-6, 3.49) vs. Quad Cities
RECAP: 3B Justin Seager hit a RBI groundout scoring 2B Bryan Brito in the top of the 12th inning as Everett defeated Vancouver 4-3 on
Thursday afternoon. Starter Steven Ewing (6.0,2,2,1,1,5) allowed 2 runs (1 ER) on 2 hits in 6.0 innings, but didnt figure into the decision.
LH Tyler Olson (0.2,1,1,1,1,0), RH Aaron Brooks (1.1,0,0,0,3,2), RH Emlio Pagan (1.0,2,0,0,0,2), LH Tyler Wright (2.0,0,0,0,2,4) and
RH Min-Sih Chen (1.0,0,0,0,0,0) combined to allow 1 run over 6.0 innings in relief. Wright struck out 4 batters in 2.0 innings to record his
2nd win of the season, while Chen tossed a 1-2-3 9th inning to record his 2nd save. CF Ian Miller (3x6, 2 R, SB), DH Chantz Mack (3x7,
2B, RBI) and 2B Bryan Brito (3x5, R, RBI, BB) each recorded 3 hits, while 3B Justin Seager (2x6, 2B, RBI, BB) recorded the teams only
other multi-hit game.
OF NOTE: RH Lars Huijer has recorded a win in 5 of his last 7 starts, going 5-0 with a 2.29 ERA (5 ER, 35.0 ER). He allowed 3 runs in the
bottom of the 1st inning on Aug. 12 at Salem-Keizer snapping a career-high 25.2 consecutive scoreless inning over 5 starts. Overall he is
7-1 with a 1.99 ERA (13 ER, 58.2 IP) in 11 games, 10 starts. He has limited opponents to a .199 average (41x206), while walking 18 and
striking out 48. OF Chantz Mack has recorded a hit in 15 of his last 16 games with 6 multi-hit outings, batting .407 (22x54) with 8 runs
scored, 8 doubles, 6 RBI, 6 walks and 1 stolen base. During this stretch (since July 25), he currently lead the Northwest League in average.
INF Justin Seager recorded his 14th multi-hit game of the season and his 3rd in his last 4 games. He is batting .500 (9x18) with 3 runs
scored, 2 doubles, 5 RBI and 3 walks. RH Emilio Pagen made his season debut with the AquaSox on Aug. 15 at Vancouver, allowing 2
