Vocations news!
Jimmy Hsu will make his final profession to the Paulist Fathers on
Sept. 6th and be ordained a transitional deacon on Sept. 7th. Jimmy
graduated 5 years ago from UT and was an active member of the
UCC. Paolo Puccini will enter the Paulist novitiate this August. He
was active here at the UCC as well and graduated from UT in 2009.

returning students as a new semester of
school begins here at the University of Texas.
The start of a new school year offers
opportunities to begin this semester with the
hope of achieving the best that can be had in
terms of university life, friendship and faith.
Our Catholic faith offers much to assist us to be the best we can be
in all of our relationships. I encourage you to take advantage of this
semester to grow in your faith by participating in the life of the
UCC community. Committing yourself to be here every week
allows God to help you through prayer and Eucharist to be more
aware of Gods grace and guidance throughout the week. Daily
Mass is another good 25 minute opportunity for nourishing grace
and spiritual energy in the midst of a busy day. The UCC staff,
student groups and building are here for you. I challenge you to get
involved in at least one of our many student groups here at the
UCC. I am sure that it will make a positive difference in the rest of
your life. Invite others, even if they are not Catholic, to come to
Mass and participate in our Welcome Week events, retreats,
student groups, bible studies and educational and social events.

St. Austin parish picnic September 7
St. Austin Catholic Parish was founded by the Paulist Fathers in
September 1908 to serve the University of Texas area Catholic
community. We are celebrating the 105th anniversary with a Parish
Picnic on Saturday, September 7 from 6-9pm.

Everyone is invited! Bring your friends and family, and spread the
word to former student residents and St. Austin parishioners! To
share stories of the history of St. Austin and to help with the picnic

Adult confirmation preparation
The Fall Series for adult Confirmation begins
Wednesday, September 4 and will last from
7:30pm to 9:00pm. Sessions will occur weekly
in St. Austins Newman Hall, 2026 Guadalupe
Street, across from Dobie. The Rite of
Confirmation is scheduled for Saturday,
December 7, 2013. No advance registration is required to attend
the session on September 4th. For additional information, contact

Natural Family Planning (NFP)
Introduction Seminars
In these seminars, couples will discover that NFP is about fertility
awareness, is highly effective and scientifically supported, and is
easy to use. This course will also familiarize couples with the four
approved methods of NFP within the Diocese of Austin;
Sympto-Thermal, Billings, Creighton, and Family of the Americas.
A certificate of attendance will be provided upon completion of this
