GEOTECHNICAL INSTRUCTIONS

1- Contractor should carry topographic survey showing all the existing utilities, features, contour lines, benchmarks details of all the surrounding areas as per technical specifications. According to the actual site survey, the quantities of the earth works (Excavation and backfilling) should be approximately premeasured based on this study. 2- Contractor shall make all the necessary procedure and shall perform a full study to get rid of the storm and rain water outside the site according to the site conditions. 3- The geotechnical investigation will be carried out according to subsurface investigation specification of the Development Project Center, MOI. 4- The investigation shall include hydrogeological and geophysical integrated surveys to study the ground water prospects, identification and location of feasible well sites for general water supply. 8- A plan for the investigated site showing the location of the proposed buildings and the location of suggested boreholes and trial pits with their depths and coordinates should be submitted to Development Project Center for review and approval prior to execution. 9- Geotechnical investigation and report giving a full description of subsurface conditions include geology of the site, borehole logs and classifications of soils and rocks and results of in situ and laboratory testing together with recommendations for foundation design and construction. 10- Adequate geotechnical investigation for each structure to the Owner Representative's satisfaction that would enable the complete and adequate characterization of the geotechnical conditions and define the engineering properties for all subsurface layers at the locations of each proposed structure as well as any adjacent location that may affect the structure. 11- Calculations for safe bearing capacity and settlement satisfying stability and serviceability requirements according to international codes and norms for each building. 12- Pavement design according to international codes and norms. 13- Protection measures for foundations against the soil/rock chemical aggressiveness as determined by adequate chemical analyses for soils, rocks and groundwater to the Owner Representative's satisfaction. 14- The geotechnical report should contain the following:

a- Geology of the site, boring logs and classification of soils; b- Summary of field and laboratory testing; c- Ground water encountered and the depth at which buoyancy should be considered; d- Seismic soil type classification and assessment of soil liquefaction potential; e- Foundation soil stiffness for dynamic analysis, when required; f- Bearing capacity and depth of bearing stratum for shallow foundation; g- Type of deep foundations that may be used, probable bearing stratum and expected capacity; h- Lateral load capacity for deep foundation; i- Specifications for backfill soils; j- Construction requirements, including: expected stable excavation slopes and excavation support methods (if needed), dewatering requirements, compaction requirements, improvement methods (if the existing soil characteristics will not achieve the required foundation performance), .etc. 15- Any other Document needed for the proper design and execution of the project.
