Welcome to Centennial College Libraries. We offer free tutoring, library resources, research help, and on-campus laptop loans to Centennial students (full-time, part-time, and continuing ed). There is a library at each Centennial campus: Ashtonbee, CCC, Progress, and HP Science & Technology Centre. Online resources and help are available 24/7 from our website at http://library.centennialcollege.ca.

Your Centennial College student card must be activated by library staff before you can book a tutor or use e-resources at home. New students: please drop by the Library to activate your card it takes just a minute. If you do not have a student card, library staff will give you a free library card.

Books
Search for books in the Books search box on the home page. Limit the Format to Books. For more search options (multiple text boxes, limit by campus, limit by publication year, etc.) go to Library Catalogue Advanced Search or change the format to Any to search for annuals. Search results will list print books as well as online books from Safari Books and NetLibrary.

To read online books, click on the chain link , or go to More Information, then click Visit URL. To read print books, write down the Call Number and find the book on the shelf in the Library. Click Place Hold to reserve the book if it is checked out. You will get an e-mail when it has been returned. Pick up the book at the campus of your choice. Click Place Hold to request the book if it is held at another campus. It will be shipped to the campus of your choice in two business days. You will get an e-mail when it arrives.

Borrow books for two weeks. You may borrow six books at a time, but only three may be on the same topic. Renew books on the website, by telephone, or in person at the Library. Books can be renewed one time only.

Videos & DVDs


Search for videos and DVDs in the Videos search box on the home page. Limit the Format to Videos, DVDs, Films. Movies in the Daher collection at each campus Library can be borrowed for seven days. All other videos and DVDs are for inlibrary use only, except for reservations made by faculty.

Fall 2009

Students may watch videos and DVDs at the TV viewing stations in each Library. Headphones are available.

Magazine, Journal & Newspaper Articles


The Library subscribes to thousands of magazines, journals and newspapers that are accessible online through the Library website. There are many ways to get to them. Click in the middle column of the web page to get to a list of E-Resources by Subject. Click the Articles & E-Resources tab. Click Full Text Journal List to find specific magazine, newspaper, or journal titles e.g. Macleans, Toronto Star, or Journal of Anatomy. Off-campus, you will be prompted to login with your student/library card number and PIN. You must have an activated library account in order to login. Usually, your PIN is the last four digits of your student/library card number.

Ask the Library


We are here to help you. If you have questions about your topic, are confused about where to find resources, want advice to select appropriate articles, books, and websites, or need help with your bibliography, please ask the library. Book a Tutor
Visit the Learning Centre in each campus Library to find out about the tutoring, review sessions, and ESL conversation classes that are offered free of charge to all Centennial students. Book your tutoring sessions through the Library website. Click Book a Tutor. Click Student Login, then login with your number and PIN. Read the Guidelines and click Agree at the bottom of the page.

First-time users will see Login Error. Are you a New User? Click here to register. Click to register with your name, phone number, and e-mail.

On the following screens, you can select your course, and choose a day and time to meet with a tutor. You must have an activated library account in order to book a tutor. Activate your account at the Library help desk. Once activated, your PIN is usually the last four digits of your student/library card number.

Borrow a Laptop
A limited number of laptop computers are available for student use on campus. Visit the Library to sign a Laptop User Agreement, which will be kept on file. The loan period is three hours. Laptops cannot be booked in advance.
