The CU 3'13 CPU module has two assembly positions to mount PCMCIA nterfaces. Only one PCMCIA interface is required, which can be mounted in either the upper or lower position--The second assembly position can be fitted with a cover. The interface is designed to hold the flash card, which is the permanent storage of the system for firmware, application programs, and machine and application data. ln its function the flash card is equivalent to the disc of the PC, except that it has no rotating parts. The flash card is always inserted in position A (position B remains unused).
