ASSURE Model Instructional Plan

Days of the Week Nurul Fazwani bt Foizi YEAR 1 Listening and Speaking Skills 60 minutes Analyze Learners This lesson is designed for 20pupils which are 5 males and 15 females. The range of pupils is from 6 to 7 years old. One pupil in this class has a learning disability; seven are classified as gifted, and one pupil is a non-reader. Most of pupils were raised in remote area and their proficiency level is not really good. However, this class is mix ability where those high achievers could influence and help the one who are low achiever. Most of them also have the background knowledge about days in a week with 15 pupils able to say the seven days of the weeks whereas another 5 need to be helped. This is a very good class with only few disturbances. They tend to be very involved in the class activities and participate without having to force them, although there are 6 pupils who are low motivation. They will only participate when they are forces, or know that they will be rewarded at the end if they do good work. Some activities that the whole class enjoys and seems to learn a lot are by having auditory materials such as CD player and radio. Most of the pupils are active, visual learning (80%), but I do have a hand full of auditory learners (20%). State Objectives Pupils will be able to pronounce words and speak confidently with the correct stress, rhythm and intonation. Require Learner Participation 1. 2. 3. 4. Pupils listen to the song on days of the week. Teacher introduces the days of the week. Teacher and pupils sing the song together. Pupils are divided into seven groups according to the days in a week. Pupils sing the song again. Then each group sings the song according to their group day only.

Evaluate & Revise 1. Student Performance Pupils are enjoying the singing activity as it put less stress on them by doing enjoyable activity. Besides that, most of pupils are involved as they do not have to focus only on the text book or other ready materials. 2. Media Effectiveness Both materials could function well with less resistance. It is ready to work during teaching and learning session. In order to given more enjoyable and interesting activities, we may use LCD projector together with power point presentation or video clip to engage pupils with learning process. 3. Instructor Performance Simple instructions for pupils make them understand and could follow all the task especially for low achievers. For next lesson, I should have more pupils enrolment by giving them the opportunity to have their own activity and it is controllable. Besides, this activity may be done outside of the class, so that, pupils will have different learning atmosphere rather than be stick in the class.
