Tough, rugged and powerful. Theyre the hallmarks of the Nissan Patrol. And they can be delivered through a choice of a high performance petrol or turbo diesel model. The 4.8 litre DOHC 6 cylinder engine uses a five-speed automatic transmission with manual shift mode. Youll enjoy fuel-efficient high speed

cruising in automatic mode while travelling the highways. Then take full advantage of the engines power with the swift five-speed manual shift when youre off-road. Nissans Valve Timing Control (VTC) system in combination with the Nissan Induction Control System (NICS), optimises torque and power by varying valve-closing timing at low and mid speeds, and delaying valve closing at high speeds.

The Patrol is also available with a new 3.0 litre DOHC direct injection turbo engine with intercooler that offers greatly improved torque characteristics and power over the previous version. This engine offers all the benefits of diesel fuel economy with the kind of performance normally associated with petrol engines.

The Patrol is all about taking the rough with the smooth. Turn off the beaten track and you can shift directly from 2WD to 4WD on the move. The auto locking front hubs engage automatically when 4WD is chosen. A manual override option is available when conditions require this. In addition, a dual-range transfer gearbox gives the driver the further option of easily selected high or

low range ratios. Low ratio is designed to cope with more demanding terrain. A big contributor to Patrols handling is the All-Terrain suspension. Heavy duty coil springs provide superior durability and ride comfort on any surface. There are telescopic shock absorbers front and rear as well as a stabiliser bar for improved cornering. The Antilock Braking System (ABS) includes a G-sensor that actually detects what sort of surface

the Patrol is on and automatically adjusts itself to best handle the situation. It comes standard on the Ti and ST-L models. Whats more, the construction of Patrol greatly influences the enjoyment of the ride. An all-steel body on a strong separate ladder chassis adds strength for tough off road driving, towing heavy loads, and the safety of its occupants.

INSIDE_ its a different story

Not everything about the new range of Patrols is rugged and tough. In fact, climb inside and youll find quite the opposite. These are, without question, the most stylish and refined Patrols ever built. The newly designed instrument panel immediately

gives the interior of the vehicle a strong contemporary appearance. The Fine Vision meters in the Ti feature orange illumination for added visibility. There are new interior trim features as well. The Ti model now features the classic elegance of wood grain finishing with the luxury of leather as standard. Patrols interior luxury is defined in other ways too. Theres plenty of space inside, for both people and
