Brittany Hooker 8/26/13 Website Committee Notes -Photos of team members need to be put on grade level web pages.

-Send calendar updates to Ms. Atwood (media specialist) or Coach Watts and Ms. Bonner so they can add the events to the school and website calendars as soon as possible. -This year, one teacher from each grade level needs to volunteer to be on the new website committee. They will be responsible for updating the teacher names and grade level overview page.

Media Committee Notes: -We requested funds for the reading quiz and Type2Learn typing program. The typing program is a webbased program for k-5. -Additional headphones are needed when using the Type2Learn program (not enough currently). -Ms. Atwood is working on changing/updating the policies and procedures document located on the TDrive. It has to change because of the new school schedule (math madness is now in the morning from 8-8:40) and technology pilot program. Please review the new document with your grade level and send any concerns to her by email. -Technology Pilot Program-one teacher from each grade level with house a piece of technology in their classroom all year (active slates, technology carts, smart boards, student response system, mimio). The technology wasnt being utilized when placed in the empty classroom on each grade level hall. -Ms. Atwood will schedule library class check-out times during teachers specials times as requested by the committee members. -Ms. Atwood will be doing a research pilot program for 5th grade this year. Every other week for an extended amount of time (longer than class check-out time. It will be about 40 to 45mins) and during their science/social studies block. -Ms. Bloodworth (media aid) will continue to work part time at Tussahaw and part time at McDonough Elem. She will continue to be here on Tuesdays and Thursdays and every other Friday. T days are laminating days. -This year, Ms. Atwood will be modeling a technology lesson and help teachers out with technology issues when classes are not scheduled and every other Friday.

-AR color codes located on book shelves will be correlated to F&P reading levels since we arent doing Accelerated Reader any more. -Students will be allowed to check-out books one reading level below and one above their reading level. -Levels A-E are all color coded green. That spans Kgn and part of 1st grade. Committee members agreed that green books should be broken up into 2 sections to make it easier to find just right books (0.1-0.5 purple and 0.6-0.9 will be green). -Question: How will students and teachers know if their book will have a reading test assigned to it since no more AR? --Ms. Atwood stated she doesnt know which books have quizzes as the list updates daily. She suggests holding off on the new reading quiz program and trying alternatives. --Committee members suggested the following: Set up a blog on a website or use Edmodo to write about a certain number of books they check out. They can record in a reading journal or do a report (and conference with teacher) that has to be approved by the teacher before they transfer the information to Edmodo or blog. Other suggestions included writing a commercial/trailer for the books. --Someone suggested that goals should be individualized per student this year and that they could earn grizzly points for meeting their goals. Grade levels would decide how many reports to do/goals for their students. -Ms. Atwood announced there will be technology trainings now at least twice a month-either her or Ms. Wyatt from the county.
