Objectives of the Course: At the end of the program the student must be able to Able to model machine learning problems for practical applications Develop and design a machine learning algorithm Able to perform learning and evaluation of the algorithms Develop simple machine learning applications 8.Course Coverage : Module Contents Introduction Introduction to learning systems, Motivation, Application scenarios, types of learning Statistical Foundations Probability theory, conditional and marginal distributions, Expectations and covariances, Bayesian probabilties, Gaussian distribution, conditional and marginal distributions Decision theory misclassification rate, expected loss, reject option, inference, loss functions Linear Models for regression, maximum likelihood and least squares, regularization.
