Cases of loose motion and vomiting reported from Village Komatikunta, SC GC Palli, PHC Putlur, District Ananthapur. District RRT investigated the outbreak. House to house survey done. People consumed water from bore wells. Poor sanitary conditions were observed in the village. Temporary medical camp organized. Cases treated. All 4 water samples collected were non potable. 4 stool samples were collected and sent to Govt. Medical College Ananthapur; result awaited. 2 deaths occurred in patients aged 65 and 70 years. Alternate supply of drinking water provided in the community. Chlorine tablets distributed. Health education given regarding safe drinking water, hygiene and sanitation. Cases of vomiting and abdominal pain reported from Bothalapallem UPS, Village Bothalapallem, SC Watchyathanda, PHC Damarcheria, District Nalgonda. District RRT investigated the outbreak and observed that the outbreak occurred due to consumption of spinach curry in mid day meal. Cases treated symptomatically. Food samples collected; result awaited. Health education given regarding food hygiene. Cases of diarrhoea and vomiting reported from Village Barpali, SC Bitkuli, Block Kota, District Bilaspur. Block health team investigated the outbreak. People consumed water from well. Temporary health camp organized. Cases treated. Stool sample collected; result awaited. Cases reported from Village Sukhpur, PHC Kodki, Block Bhuj, District Kutch. District RRT investigated the outbreak. A 28 year male was admitted in a private hospital in Bhuj on 02/08/13 with complaints of fever, headache and abdominal pain. Patient was referred to a private hospital in Ahmedabad on 04/08/13 for further treatment. He expired on 06/08/13. Patients serum sample tested positive for CCHF by Real Time RT-PCR in NIV, Pune. 5 more serum samples taken and sent to NIV, Pune tested negative for CCHF by Real Time RT-PCR. Entomological survey done. 20 cattle serum samples and 10 tick samples sent to NIV, Pune; result awaited. Control measures undertaken. Contacts have been kept under surveillance. Garbage removal and cleanliness drive undertaken in the village by Gram Panchayat. Anti-larval activities, fogging and insecticide spray done. Acarecidal treatment of cattle with Deltamethrin undertaken by Veterinary Department. Search for more cases continues. Case reported from Village Bidada, PHC Talwana, Block Mandvi, District Kutch. District RRT investigated the outbreak. A 48 year male admitted in a private hospital in Bhuj on 09/08/13 with complaints of fever, headache, diarrhoea. Patient was transferred to Rajkot on 11/08/13 for further treatment. Patient died on 13/08/13. Patients serum sample sent to NIV, Pune tested positive for CCHF by Real Time RT-PCR. Entomological survey done. 30 cattle serum samples sent to NIV, Pune; result awaited. Control measures undertaken. Contacts have been kept under surveillance. Garbage removal and cleanliness drive undertaken in the village by Gram Panchayat. Anti-larval activities, fogging and insecticide spray done. Acarecidal treatment of cattle with Deltamethrin undertaken by Veterinary Department. Search for more cases continues. Gram Panchayat was instructed for supply of safe drinking water in the community. Case of loose motion and vomiting reported from Village/SC Vanhne, Block/District Lunglei. Distrcit RRT investigated the outbreak. House to house survey done. Cases were treated. ORS packets were given to cases. All 3 stool samples collected were negative for cholera culture. Out of 5 water samples collected, 2 samples were non potable. Health education given regarding safe drinking water, hygiene and sanitation. Cases of fever, myalgia and body pain reported from Village/SC Sanarpatti, PHC Gopalpatti, Block Anjukulipatti, District Dindigul. Distrcit RRT investigated the outbreak. House to house survey done. Entomological survey done (HI 16, CI 9.7, BI 18 and Pupal index 4). 1 serum collected was positive for Dengue (IgM ELISA). All 28 blood smears collected were negative for malaria. Anti larval activites undertaken. Health education given. Cases of headache, fever, arthralgia reported from Village Athiyanur, SC Ammanampakkam, PHC Kovalai, District Tiruvannamalai. District RRT investigated the outbreak. House to house fever survey done. Cases treated symptomatically. 13 blood smears collected which tested negative for malaria. Out of 5 serum samples collected and sent to ZET Vellore, 3 samples were positive for Chikungunya (IgM ELISA). Entomological survey revealed; HI 9, CI 4.2, BI 13. Vectors Aedes aegypti and Aedes albopictus were identified in the affected area. Anti-larval activities using Temephos and Pyrethrum spray done.

Cases of jaundice reported from Villages Krishnapur, Dolberia, Block Simlapal, District Bankura. State and District RRT investigated the outbreak. Out of 22 serum samples collected, 10 samples were positive for Hepatits A (IgM ELISA), 1 was positive for both Hepatitis A and E (IgM ELISA) and 1 serum sample was positive for Hepatitis E. 10 water smples collected were non potable. Open defecation was rampant in the affected area. Hygiene and sanitation was poor in the community. Disinfection of the surroundings done. IEC done regarding hygiene maintenance, hand washing practices, disposal of excreta and us eof boiled water for drinking purposes. Cases of loose motion and vomiting reported from Village Bhedua, SC Salboni, Block Kanchanpur, Distrcit Bankura. Distrcit RRT investigated the outbreak. 3 stool samples collected were negative for cholera culture. All cases treated locally. Chlorinationation of water sources done. Halogen and ORS tablets were distributed. IEC done regarding hygiene maintenance and sanitation. Cases of loose motion and vomiting reported from Village/SC Mutukura, Block Kotshila, District Purulia. Block health team investigated the outbreak. Active search of cases done. Crimean samples were collected and sent to NIV, Pune, which tested negative for Under Congo 1 1 27/07/13 CCHF by Real Time RT-PCR. Entomological survey done. 14 cattle surveillance Haemorrhagic serum samples and 4 pools of ticks sent to NIV, Pune which tested Fever negative for CCHFV. Control measures undertaken. Monitoring of contacts of the confirmed case is being undertaken. Garbage removal and cleanliness drive undertaken in the village by Gram Panchayat. Anti-larval activities, fogging and insecticide spray done. Acarecidal treatment of cattle with Deltamethrin undertaken by Veterinary Department. Search for more cases continues. Cases reported from Village Undara, PHC Sampra, District Patan. District RRT investigated the outbreak. Population of the affected area was 4343. A 68 year female admitted in a private hospital in Patan on 11/07/13 with complaints of fever, headache and abdominal pain. Patient was referred to BJMC, Ahmedabad on 18/07/13 for further treatment. She died on 20/07/13. Another patient (7 year male) developed fever, nausea, vomiting and headache on 16/07/13 and admitted in Dharpur Medical College, xxxvi. Crimean Patan. Patient recovered. Both cases tested positive for CCHF in NIV, Under Congo 2 1 11/07/13 Pune by Real Time RT-PCR. 8 more serum samples were collected and surveillance Haemorrhagic sent to NIV, Pune, which tested negative for CCHF by Real Time RTFever PCR. Entomological survey done. 35 cattle serum samples and 67 pools of ticks sent to NIV, Pune which tested negative for CCHFV. Control measures undertaken. Contacts under surveillance. Garbage removal and cleanliness drive undertaken in the village by Gram Panchayat. Anti-larval activities, fogging and insecticide spray done. Acarecidal treatment of cattle with Deltamethrin undertaken by Veterinary Department. Search for more cases continues.

Districts JE positive cases (1June- 21 July) Gomati 4 South Tripura 3 West Tripura 3 14 (lab Under xlvi. Japanese Khowai 3 0 01/06/13 confirmed) control Encephalitis Sephaijala 1 A total of 181 serum samples collected and tested at Agartala Government Medical College. 14 were positive for JE (IgM ELISA). Out of 14 serum samples positive for JE, 8 serum samples were sent to NCDC which were confirmed positive for JE (IgM ELISA). Control measures undertaken. Fogging done in the affected areas. IEC done. Cases of jaundice reported from Village Chhani, Keduanar, SC Bhanoli, Block Dhualadevi, District Almora. District RRT investigated the cases. People consumed water from natural sources. 5 blood samples were collected and sent to Sushila Tiwari Medical College Haldwani which xlvii. Viral Hepatitis Under 5 0 25/07/13 control tested positive for Hepatitis A (IgM ELISA). 2 water samples collected A which tested positive for faecal coliforms. Chlorine tablets were distributed in the community. IEC done regarding use of boiled water for drinking purpose.
