Tonellis Language Arts Class Syllabus

Room 103 read, write, create, succeed
Content: In 7th grade Language Arts, you will be expected to tap into your previous knowledge from grades K-6 to help further your study or reading, writing, spelling, and grammar. Typically, I will schedule a project or test, but not both for a given unit. Assignments: Whether an assignment is due in class, the next day, or several days later, I expect it to be turned in on time. It is best for YOU if I am able to grade your paper along with the other assignments for your class. I am able to give you useful feedback before you take a quiz or test and you will be able to do your best. I do accept late work; however, if it becomes a habit we will need to meet to figure out a better plan for you. *All students must have some form of electronically submitting assignments (flashdrive, email, Dropbox, Google docs). Extra credit: I dont offer individual extra credit assignments, but keep your ears attentive and you may hear various extra credit opportunities announced to all students throughout the year. Attendance: If you KNOW you will be absent, please see me for your work ahead of time. If you are sick, or have an unexpected absence, you should consult our class webpage at www.mrstonelli.com for a list of your assignments and what we did in class that day. If you need something from me to complete your absent work (a review of the lesson, a worksheet not yet posted, etc) it is YOUR responsibility to see me when you return. Always contact the front office if you are absent. The class webpage, www.mrstonelli.com , will be updated frequently and include details about anything you could ever need to know about class. To reach Mrs. Tonelli, you can email ktonelli@csd17.org, or call 815-715-0365. You may also leave a message with a front office employee at 815-467-4314.

Miscellaneous: Bring all of the supplies you will need We will be doing so much that I dont want you to miss out by making a run to your locker! Begin working immediately once you arrive. Use manners please, thank you, compliments, etc. Books and supplies will be handled with the utmost care regardless of the condition it is in when you received it. You will only enter the teacher zone when asked to retrieve an item for me. Please, please, please write your name on your work! Always, always, always, have something to do in case you finish our class work early. I suggest a silent reading novel. Ask lots of questions to make sure you understand everything you need to in order to earn an A. Make mistakes its the only way to learn and it often helps others around you. Take charge of your own education and junior high experience. Follow Rights & Responsibilities every day, all day Be nice! Work hard! Be respectful!
