2013

Greetings, I hope you are enjoying the summer weather. This year it has taken a while to get here. In John 15:5, Jesus reminds us how much we need Him. "I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing." Reflect on the following words as though spoken to us by Jesus: Do not resist or run from the difficulties in your life. These problems are not random mistakes; they are tailor made blessings designed for your benefit and growth. Embrace all the circumstances that I allow in your life, trusting Me to bring good out of them. (Romans 8:28) View problems as opportunities to rely more fully on Me, your Lord. When you start to feel stressed, let those feelings alert you to your need for Me. In this way your needs become doorways to deep dependence on Me and increasing intimacy between us. Although self-sufficiency is the mindset pushed in the world, reliance on Me (Jesus) produces abundant living in my Kingdom. On the journey of life let this message transform you. God bless you,

Church familyOur church is always looking for ways to serve you as you live out your faith throughout the week. We are inviting you to have a free account to an exciting new video library called RightNow Media. It's essentially the "Netflix of Video Bible Studies" because you will have instant access to thousands of great videos for kids, youth, parents, married couples and more. You can view these videos from your phone, tablet or computer. And you can also view them in a group setting through a TV or projector. There are over 2,000 videos from some great teachers. You should have already received an official "invitation email" to give you FREE access to this library. If you haven't received it already, can you check your mail filter and accept the invite today? Because it was coming from RightNow's system, it may have gotten caught there. Simply find the email, click on the link, put in your name and a password and you're all set. All of the videos are FREE for everyone to use. If you have not yet received your email invitation, perhaps we do not have an email address for you. Please contact Karen in the church office at 320-393-4295 to provide that to her or put it on the list on the counter in the narthex. We do not want anyone to miss out on this amazing tool for studying God's Word! Please also feel free to invite your friends and family to join as well--just get their email addresses to Karen and an invitation will be sent to them.

Hutchinson VFW and is in need of volunteers. Our SOTP Saints did a similar event last fall and had a blast! We are looking for someone to lead in assembling a group of volunteers to help with this wonderful ministry. The time is from noon-6pm. Food packaging events are festivals of giving and sharing that draw communities and neighborhoods closer. It's a satisfying endeavor full of fun and music. Most importantly, it brings people together in making a difference in the life of a hungry child or family in your town or across an ocean. Please contact Karen in the church office if you could be a volunteer or lead this one day ministry event!

Make this a fun family activity and share the love of the Lord with children of the world!

Living thanks
Thank you! I exuded, after receiving a hefty bag of homegrown tomatoes. I set the produce on the kitchen floor; I would attend to it shortly. But I got distracted for days. Finally, I lifted the bag to make use of the gift, and the bottom fell out. Many of the tomatoes had become squishy, their juices soaking the paper beneath them. Instead of making good use of the generous gift, I was left cleaning up rotten tomatoes and throwing many of the veggies away. We do the same with Gods gifts: Ill practice piano tomorrow next week next month until soon we dont remember how to play at all. We pass up chances to visit someone dear and, when she moves away, regret squandering the friendship. We opt to sleep in instead of attending worship, unaware of what gifts of Gods Word and Christian fellowship well miss. Next time I receive something from God or anyone else may the Spirit help me not just give thanks but live thanks by using and enjoying the gift! Heidi Mann

Shepherd of the Pines Mission Statement: Connecting People to GodTo Othersand To Service The purpose of this congregation is mandated for us by our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, as found in the words of the Great Commission (Matthew 28), namely first of all to Go. To leave our walls of refuge, going into all the world, comprising of our families and neighbors. We plan to achieve our purpose by identifying persons with whom we are particularly well-equipped to serve and reach with the challenge of becoming Disciples of Christ. Second, to Make Disciples or in the words of St Paul, To equip the saints (Ephesians 4:12). This is to be understood as helping people to live the Christian life here on earth. Preparing and encouraging young and old alike to find and to use their God given gifts and abilities for the extension of His Kingdom, and to grow in fervent love for God and for others. Thirdly, to Baptize as commanded by Jesus Himself. As God reaches down to mankind with His means of grace, He would have us baptize His people, bringing them into His family and Kingdom, granting to them life, forgiveness of sins, and eternal salvation. And lastly, to continue steadfast in His Word, Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you. A continued zeal for the study of His Word, the Bible, is necessary for the growth of any Christian congregation. Thus, the Word of God will be taught and studied in full measure and His Word shall be the rule and norm of this congregations faith and life. To that end, our every effort and energy will be used in motivating, training, and putting to use our time, and talents and treasures to Make Disciples.
