Textbook: None. Handouts will be available through blackboard. Course Description: This seminar course is designed to prepare ENGR students for professional practice and for Sr. Design. The course will 1) direct students in skills to be utilized in senior design, 2) expose students to ethics, professional societies and registration and 3) encourage development of soft skills. At the completion of this course students are expected to have selected a senior design team, advisor and project. Prerequisite: Senior Standing (within one semester individual curricula may have additional requirements). Grading Criteria:

Integration with Senior Design Process 1. Teams will investigate potential projects and advisors from Week 1 to 6 2. Students will select senior design teams and have a tentative project and adviser by Week 6. 3. Teams will deliver final senior design topic, advisor, team members and research needs by Week 12. Indicated advisor must sign-off on project at this time.

Policies and Procedures Attendance and participation is required. There are no excused absences. Instead, there will be no penalty for the first missed lecture. After this, each missed lecture will result in a 20% reduction in the Attendance and Participation portion of your grade regardless of excuse. Habitual tardiness will also result in a proportional reduction in the Attendance and Participation portion of your grade. Class assignments that are missed will result in a score of zero unless there is a certified medical excuse or similar emergency. Assignments are due at the BEGINNING of class on the due date assigned. Penalties for late assignments: Assignments turned in before class ends 10% (Maximum score of 90%) Assignments turned in before 5 PM 25% (Maximum score of 75%) Assignments will not be accepted after 5PM Academic Rights and Responsibilities: Freedom to teach and freedom to learn are inseparable facets of academic freedom.
