THE WITNESS OF NUMBERS

The Bible is the most wonderful book in the World! The study of it brings to light such a succession of marvels to investigate that it becomes enthralling! No scientific discovery could give a greater thrill than the finding of new truth gives to the earnest student of the Bible who takes Our Lord's advice to search the Scriptures! One of the most interesting and instructive lines of search is the subject of 'Numbers'. Besides the actual figures such as we find in Daniel, numbers are mentioned in other ways, and seem to be accepted as simple factors of History. In Matthew 10:30 and Luke 12:17, Our Lord's own words are recorded, "Even the very hairs of your head are numbered." So we are not surprised to find in the Book of Numbers, this verse, "And The Lord said unto Moses, number all the first born of the males of the children of Israel, from a month old and upwards, and take the number of their names! Names were very important in those days and often revealed future events of History, like the name of Methuselah, which predicted the flood at his death. And if every hair is numbered we may be sure that our names must be. God calls the stars by their names and a study of those names and their meanings reveal the story of Israel and the coming of the King. In Psalm 90 we read, "So teach us to number our days that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom". And you may remember that the Prophets in Elijah's day, had acquired that knowledge, for they knew Elijah was to be translated. For they remarked to Elias, "Knowest thou that the Lord will take away thy master from thy head today?", and he replied, "Yea I know it, hold ye your peace"! They did not say Elijah would die, so they appear to have known, likewise the manner of his going. (Translation143)= Prophet (98) Elijah (45)=143). In Daniel we have a marginal reference to 'a wonderful numberer' or 'a numberer of secrets' called Palmoni. There is a hint here at least some secrets may be revealed by finding the number thereof. Again we learn from Daniel 5:6 that Nations have numbers, for Daniel, interpreting the writing on the wall, tells Belshazzer, "Thy Kingdom is numbered and finished" and it ended that very night. So, also, when God promised Abraham the land of Canaan, He set the time for their entry into possession by the fact that, "the iniquity of the Amorites is not yet full"-which implies a definite period of Divine patience. In Revelation we are given the number of the 'sealed' of Israel-144000 and the number of Antichrist 666. Many mysteries have been unlocked, and many books have been written by eminent Hebrew and Greek scholars, whose efforts have shown the significance of the numerals,

and their wonderful 'patterns and cycles'. They also use a system called Gematria, which is the numbering of the letters of the Alphabet, applied to the words, and the value thereof calculated by that method. In this way they have given us much light and marvels of information on the perfect harmony of the Scriptures, studying direct from the Hebrew and Greek and confirming the Divine origin of the Bible. But the writer is not a Hebrew or Greek scholar, and so of necessity must take the Bible as it is, written for the common people. Isaiah 28:11, tells us that "with another tongue will He speak to this Ephraim people", which suggested the possibility that some message or instructions might be found, using Gematria with the English Alphabet for assuredly He would know that the generation living at the end of the Age-and this is the last century (now passed) of the 6000 yrs-of His people Israel would not be speaking Hebrew or Greek as the common tongue. So let us begin with that perplexing number, 153. Here is a quotation from Dr. Bullinger's book, "Number in Scripture". "153 is a number that has taxed the ingenuity of the Greatest Bible students, and that from the earliest times. All have felt there must be something significant and mysterious in this number from the solemn way in which it is introduced in St John.21:11, Simon Peter went up and drew the net to land full of great fishes, an hundred and fifty and three". Having found "The Kingdom of God"(153) we must needs find The King: THE TRINITY, THE SAVIOUR, THE KING. Curiously enough, there are three things that produce the same number and which appear to relate to our search, KEY-LOCK-and KING.- which each have the number 41. > 41x3 = 123, and 123 is the Gematria of "THE HOLY BIBLE", so we turn to it, and find in St John's Gospel Ch.1 V.1, "In the beginning-and we cannot get back any further than thatwas the Word and the Word was with God, and the Word was God". 1-2-3! The same two words three times in ONE verse! THREE in ONE, a TRINITY, surely. The Gematria "THE WORD" is 93-"THE KEYS" also 93="THE KEY WORDS =153 93X3= '279' (To produce THE MANIFESTATIONS OF ONE GOD) "JESUS CHRIST THE SON OF GOD"= 279 "KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS"=279 "THE SPIRIT OF THE ETERNAL GOD" =279 "THE GOSPEL OF JESUS CHRIST" =279 "THE ONE SEED IS JESUS CHRIST =279 "HE WAS DESPISED AND REJECTED OF MEN" =279 "WHOSE GOINGS FORTH HAVE BEEN FROM ON OLD, FROM EVERLASTING"= 558 =279x2 (Which is twice 279 and refers to the Second Coming).

God's first promise to Abraham, "I will make of thee a great nation" is 279-the numerical signature, found also in His command to Abraham, "Walk before Me and be thou perfect"=279. GOD SAID IT so it was HIS WORD, and "THE WORD OF GOD CANNOT BE BROKEN" =279. These are sufficient examples to show there are 'Signs" all around-even in the 'Language' we speak, this signature goes into all 'areas' of Life.
