Important Message..

Know that your grades start counting NOW!

What does that mean for you?

Most universities will want to see the grades from your last four years of Secondary School. For NIST students, that is Year 10, 11, 12 and 13

Assess and adjust your online conduct/profile

The Get Real about Facebook Activity: 1. This weekend log onto your Facebook page 2. Take a look at your status updates, the comments on your wall, and the photographs in your albums including those used for your profile picture 3. Would everyone in my life (teachers, parents, university admission staff and future employers) be okay with what is displayed there? 4. If you find something offensive, remove it.
Think Before you Post

Do you realize that?

Everything that you write or post on the internet (including e-mails, Facebook wall comments, photographs) on the internet is public! These posts are also permanent! (Think about thisYour grandchildren will be able to read what you wrote in Year 10!) Did you know that some universities will Google you and that an offensive online profile could prevent you from being admitted?

Think about your future

Feeling uncertain?
Its totally okay that you dont have all the answers yet! Just live the questions!

What will that mean for you

Skills will become more important than your major (information technology, problem-solving, conflict resolution, communication, teamwork) Most people will not have just one job in their lifetime Well change the way we think about job/work/career More people will work from home More people will own their own business
