WORKSHOP OVERVIEW
This 3 days workshop will enable participant to minimize the risk of failures and accidents by re-developing strategies and process mechanisms to improve the control and oversight of daily risk and potential errors. . Based on current HazOp designs this workshop will demonstrate how the processes can be optimized to increase the safety and ensure the operability of the production. We will then touch briefly on leadership requirements ( An introduction for the last 2 days on Hazop Leadership Training.
DAY 1
Risk what is it & How is it Controlled
Introductory Statement What is risk management and why is the process so important
Short Video Death in the oil Field; this video is sourced from chemical Safety Board in the USA and highlights the catastrophic loss of life after the poor recognition of risks and adoption of unsafe work practice in the oil extraction industry. Its intent in this session is to raise the awareness of risk recognition and its importance as the cornerstone of the Risk Management Process
Hazard identification contributing factors included poor management decisions, poor permit to work process , very low levels of emergency response training plus more Management of change this rig was modified to process natural gas a function never considered in the initial design Risk assessment and management practices managers not prepared to act, poor leadership and very low levels of risk recognition and control measure management.

Practical Activity Conduct a site HSE Audit o Participant shall be provided with an example Audit Worksheet and perform and audit of the immediate area where training is conducted (venue authorization may be required), the audit will be conducted in teams of 3-4 persons. o A debrief of the audit shall be conducted by the groups in the classroom environment.

CRAIG STEWART
Craig is a widely experienced work health and safety professional with 36 years of technical experience gained from the Australian Army (Aircraft Artificer) and the civil corporate sector.(both private and government owned). In all of this work experience, craig has been actively involved in the field of workplace health and safety in various degrees including safety committee member, safety representative, safety officer and now a safety professional. With trade qualifications in aircraft maintenance and technical and logistical resources management; Diploma of occupational Health and Safety and industry qualification in risk management, confined space entry, first aid, auditing and project management skills; craig is a chartered professional Member of the Safety Institute of Australia and a RABQSA certified Lead Auditor OH&S Management system. Craig has the ability to relate to a wide range of workplace situations and is able to provide a sound, practical solution with respect to the application of the various safety related statutory requirements. Craig provides services to the mining, maritime, agri-business, local government, federal government, petro-chemical and construction business sectors in Australia and the Asian Region.
