Large Turtle
Shell: Ch2, 6sc in 2nd ch from hook. Rd 1: 2sc in every sc = 12sc Rd 2:2sc in every 2nd sc = 18sc Rd 3: 2sc in every 3rd sc = 24sc Rd 4: 2sc in every 4th sc = 30sc Rd 5: 2sc in every 5th sc = 36sc Rd 6: 2sc in every 6th sc = 42sc Rd 7: 2sc in every 7th sc = 48sc Rd 8: 2sc in every 8th sc = 54sc Rd 9: 2sc in every 9th sc = 60sc Rd 10: sc Rd 11: 2sc in every 10th sc = 66sc Rd 12:sc Rd 13: 2sc in every 11th sc = 72sc Rd 14:sc Rd 15:sc Break yarn. Body: Ch2, 8sc in 2nd ch from hook. Rd 1: 2sc in every sc = 16sc Rd 2: 2sc in every 2nd sc = 24sc Rd 3: 2sc in every 3rd sc = 32sc Rd 4: 2sc in every 4th sc = 40sc Rd 5: 2sc in every 5th sc = 48sc Rd 6: 2sc in every 8th sc = 54sc Rd 7: 2sc in every 9th sc = 60sc Rd 8: 2sc in every 10th sc = 66sc Rd 9: 2sc in every 11th sc = 72sc Rd 10: sc Sl st, ch1, take shell part and crochet body and shell with sl st together:

The positions for extremities are as following: The whole round has 72sc. 72sc = head (8sc) + 6sc-space + right frontfin (5sc) + 8sc-space + right leg (5sc) + 5scspace + tail (6sc) + 5sc-space + left leg (5sc) + 8sc-space + left frontfin (5sc) + 5scspace

Note: If it is too difficult to begin extremities as described below, just chain the number of stitches you need for the first row, follow instructions and sew extremities to body.

Head: When you look at the seem between shell and body, you see that there are two parallel rows of sc. Work over the upper row 8sc, turn, and work 8sc over the lower row:

Rd 1: 2sc into 1st / 8th / 9th / 16th sc = 20sc Rd 2: 2sc into 1st / 10th / 11th / 20th sc = 24sc Rd 3-7: sc Rd 8: 2x cr2tog, 8sc, 2x cr2tog, 8sc = 20sc Rd 9: sc only over 19sc Rd 10: 2x cr2tog, 6sc, 2x cr2tog, 6sc = 16sc Rd 11: cr2tog, 6sc, cr2tog, 6sc Break yarn but leave longtail for sewing. Close hole.

Eyes: ( with 3mm crochet hook!) Ch2, 6sc in 2nd ch from hook. Rd 1: 2sc in every sc = 12sc Rd 2: sc Rd 3: sc Sew eyes onto head. Embroider pupils, mouth and nostrils.

Tail: Work over 6sc as described for head = 1round 12sc. Rd 1: cr2tog, 2sc, 2x cr2tog, 2sc, cr2tog = 8sc Rd 2: sc Rd 3: cr2tog, 2sc, cr2tog, 2sc = 6sc Rd 4: cr2tog, 1sc, cr2tog, 1sc = 4sc Pull yarn through last four sts, break yarn.

Legs: Work over 5sc as described for head = 1round 10sc. Rd 1-4: sc Rd 5: cr2tog, 3sc, cr2tog, 3sc = 8sc Break yarn but leave longtail for sewing. Close hole.

Right frontfin: Work over 5sc as described for head = 1round 10sc. Rd 1: in this round you start shortrows: 4sc, 2sc into each of next 2sc, 2sc, sl st, ch1, turn 9sc, ch1, sl st, turn 4sc, 2sc into each of next 2sc, 1sc, sl st, ch1, turn 7sc, sl st, ch1, turn 3sc, 2sc into each of next 2sc, sl st, ch1, turn 1sc, 2x cr2tog, sl st, ch1, turn 4sc, sc over all the sc that were left free during the last steps = 1round 14sc Rd 2: 2x cr2tog, 10sc = 12sc Rd 3: sc Rd 4: cr2tog, 10sc = 11sc Rd 5: cr2tog, 9sc = 10sc Rd 6: cr2tog, 8sc = 9sc Rd 7: cr2tog, 7sc = 8sc Rd 8: cr2tog, 6sc = 7sc Rd 9: cr2tog, 5sc = 6sc Rd 10: 3x cr2tog = 3sc Pull yarn through last 3sc, break yarn.

Left frontfin: Work over 5sc as described for head, but start at lower seam = 1round 10sc. Starting at the lower seam ensures that you can follow the directions for the Right Frontfin.
