church on Awaji Island in the Inland Sea of Japan and is served by Kawa hara San and Claude. This congrega tion is in the process of building a church building which can also be used for camp purposes in the summer.
At the beginning of their third term, the Likins family moved to AKASHI, which is about an hour's commuting distance from their former home in Kobe. At present, only Bible classes and Sunday school are con
ducted there.
The Likins family was settled in a ministry in Ashland, Kentucky, when Claude's sister, Lois, and her husband, Bill Walker, visited them one day and announced, "We're going to Japan as missionaries and you're going with us." Matthew Ikeda, a Japanese preacher studying at Cincinnati Bible Seminary, was instrumental in the Walkers' decision. After much prayer

gone home, now.
The Lord has blessed us in making it possible to have a fine building on Awaji
Island. It is constructed of steel frame and reinforced block with second floor and flat
roof, and will be used for the church there as well as for the camping program of all the churches of the area, for weekend re treats and for any other program that will assist in evangelism and growth of the Chris
tians and churches of the area.
The building is about half finished as is shown in the picture and has cost about $4,000. In one of our very rare appeals for financial assistance, we are asking Chris tian friends to please increase contributions if at all possible over the next few months so that the building can be finished soon. In August we began using the building even though there were no windows, and we had to lay boards temporarily for flooring. One day's VBS and evangelistic services had to be cancelled because of typhoon rain and winds that came howling through the open doors and windows, but it dried out enough the next day to have services again.
