BACKROUND OF BUSINESS Empilweni Cooperative is a cooperative, which was formed on July 17 2004. The business will be situated at Boikhutsong, Soutpan, Shoshanguve Pretoria. The business is involved with catering, baking and confectionary. These services are also extended to companies, cooperates, and government departments. The Empilweni Cooperative management team is fully involved in training 45 women and youth employed in Ward 11, 25,29,33,34 and36 by conducting fortnightly workshops (aided by manuals from the DTI) related to their relevant services so as to provide quality service to the potential clients. The cooperative has the ability to promote the programme of Black Economic Empowerment. The Aim is: To develop ourselves as women and youth To improve employment opportunities for ourselves as women and youth To bridge the gap of being unskilled to skilled youth To be empowered to render professional services on the domestic field. VISION To grow the company economically and financially and to remain a stable and fully operational cooperative for our customers needs. To provide a solution in the development and empowerment of women and transforming domestic workers into service providers of these services in a professional manner to build a business partner with other companies. To give the best opportunities of development to historically disadvantaged communities.

MISSION Our mission is to develop and maintain the cooperative, to honour our pledge of being successful and reliable. To maintain and build customer relationships with full integrity. It will be our responsibility and our business to listen and to understand the needs of our clients and continually seek new ways of doing things and strategies and add value. Provide service and advice that is impartial, innovative, practical and cost effective. To become the leading and most successful women and youth cooperative, that supports community in their empowerment through job creation, poverty alleviation and crime prevention. BUSINESS ACTIVITIES This cooperative will provide catering; baking that will be supervised by means of regular inspection by our management committee. The catering staff and maintenance (which ever will be relevant), equipment and material will be provided. The cooperative will comply with the customers security and emergency procedures and regulations. CATERING: Empilweni Cooperative will cater as per the specifications laid down by the client; it will provide appropriate labour and service for the services to be carried out on the confirmation and instruction of the clients. To prepare for the occasion, cooking, table setting, flower arrangements, serving and cleaning up after the occasion. Empilweni Cooperative will appropriate labour for the maintenance services to be carried out on the confirmation and instruction of our clients. Services and maintenance will be charged at an affordable rate.

MORE ABOUT THE COOPERATIVE The entire business will be operated in a rented property, which will be set up into a one stop catering and baking service. The members of this cooperative will enter onto agreement with the municipality offices, government, clinics and businesses in the area to give them the best professional women services. This co-operative will then develop a venture with the women develop them in accordance with their expertise, and seek contracts for them.
