Functional description, Section

Type 4WRA directional control valves are direct-operated via proportional solenoids and are used to control the direction and quantity of a flow. They consist basically of the housing (3), the control spool (4), one or two return springs (2; 5),and in addition one or two proportional solenoids (1; 6). Type 4WRA...-1X/... (3 position valve) If the solenoids are not activated the control spool (4) is maintained in the neutral position by means of the return springs (2; 5). Actuation of the control spool (4) is directly via the proportional solenoid (1 or 6). If, for instance, solenoid "a" (1) is energised, it will push the control spool (4) to the right in proportion to the electrical signal. Connections are then made from P to B and A to T . The control spool (4) causes the V-shaped grooves to open progressively to flow. After solenoid "a" (1) has been de-energised the control spool (4) is returned to its neutral position by the return spring (5) . Note: In order to achieve optimum functioning of the valve it must be bled at the commissioning stage: Provide pressure to valve, Remove plugs 7 and 8, and fill with hydraulic fluid as required, When no more bubbles appear replace plugs 7 and 8. The tank lines should not be allowed to empty. Given suitable installation conditions a pre-load valve should be incorporated (pre-load pressure approx. 2 bar).

Type 4WRA... A ..-1X/... (2 position valve) B This is a 2-position directional proportional valve. In principle, the function of this valve is the same as that of the 3-position valve type 4 WRA..-1X... If solenoid "a" (1) is energised, it pushes the control spool (4) to the right in proportion to the electrical signal. Return is by means of spring (5).

Note: In the interests of achieving optimum valve functioning of the valvue, it must be bled when commissioning: Provide pressure to valve, Remove plugs 7 and 9 or 8 and 10, fill with hydraulic fluid as required, When no more bubbles appear replace plugs 7 and 9 or 8 and 10. Avoid allowing the tank lines to empty. Where installation conditions permit, a pre-load valve should be incorporated (preload pressure approx. 2 bar).
