OBJECTIVES

1. Give the students the opportunity to listen to a song in the classroom.


2. Make them aware of the message of the song between the lines.
3. Set them in time and space.
4. Make a comparison between the society in the song and nowadays.
5. Infer difficult vocabulary through examples and pictures.
6. Be able to participate in a quiet atmosphere.
7. Enjoy the class.
8. Communicate in real exchanges.
9. Write and express feelings.
10. Write short messages.
TASKS AND ACTIVITIES

1. Set the pupils in time and space with the use of pictures and newspaper articles
of the 1970´.
2. Listen to the song : “ Imagine” by John Lennon, without the lyrics.
3. Make them listen to find specific information in the song: heaven, hell, easy,
peace, dreamer, hard.
4. Ask the students to match the words and its definition according to the song:

To die Not difficult.

The world Person who dreams

Easy Feeling of companionship

Heaven A time when there is no war


or fighting

Peace
To stop living.

5. Ask the students to find opposite or contrasting ideas in the lyrics:
• Heaven/ hell

6. Then give the students the same words all mixed up for them to find the
opposites and check their own work.
7. Play the song again and give them the lyrics written in small sheet of papers so
that they put the different parts in order while they listen :

8. Play the song again and elicit ideas that are the message of the song: living in
peace, brotherhood, no dying, people sharing the world, no greed, no hunger, the
world as one…
9. Comment around the class about the elicited ideas.
10. Suggest students adding another stanza to the song, or simple completing
sentences with the student´s own ideas and thoughts: “ Imagine……………”
11. Write own messages to display in the school noticeboard.
12. Prepare a balloon party ( suelta de globos) with messages write on small cards
attached to the balloons.( if possible)
