Employment
Director and Teacher I began this business, which offers several types of supplemental
May 2004 – present education to middle and high school students. I managed the
Academy Student Resources finances and the administration of the business, tutored one-on-
one, taught ACT/SAT preparation courses, designed all
advertisement materials, coordinated all marketing, as well as
recruited and trained new tutors.

Mathematics Instructor I taught several undergraduate mathematics courses, creating all


May 2004 – Dec. 2007 lesson plans and testing material. I served on faculty boards that
University of Tennessee chose textbooks, made curriculum decisions, and worked to
implement general study skills into the remedial math courses. I
held office hours and study sessions outside lecture time to
ensure students were able to perform their best.

Summer Institute Instructor Chosen during the pilot year of this program designed to
Summer 2003, 2004, and 2005 encourage and empower inner city high school students to
Project GRAD attend college, I created the mathematics curriculum (2003) and
the ACT prep curriculum (2004, 2005) for this program. I
collaborated with teachers in various fields to devise the
connected interdisciplinary curriculum. All math and ACT prep
instructors then implemented the curriculum I designed.

Graduate Teaching Associate This position requires the same responsibilities as an Instructor,
Aug. 2002 – May 2004 just with lighter course load, allowing me to complete my
University of Tennessee master’s degree.

Teacher/Tutor I led both tutoring sessions and larger lectures for middle and
Aug. 1999 – May 2002 high school students in chemistry, all levels of mathematics,
MasterMinds Learning Center Spanish, English, and biology, while also conducting preparatory
sessions for the ACT, SAT, PSAT, GRE, and GED for this
business located in Birmingham, AL.

Orientation Leader Comprised of six leaders, the team organized and implemented
Jan. – August 2001 New Student Orientation. We facilitated the selection and
Samford University training of eighty fall orientation leaders, as well as all of the
planning for summer orientation sessions, a week of orientation
leader training, and the weeklong fall orientation. In addition to
my team responsibilities, I personally arranged all community
service hours with more than forty agencies and six hundred
volunteers for Birmingham Connections.

Mentored kids one on one as well as weekly large group meetings. Planned and
implemented all aspects of several trips to YoungLife camps and led small group Bible

presenting to clients, and installing several projects. (2008 – 2009)
