Dear Families, Welcome back to everyone! We were blessed with a beautiful Mass, our 20th Opening Mass, on the Feast of St. Augustine. We welcomed a record number of families and students. We are now officially over-full! It is going to be a great year if the spirit of the students these past two days is indicative of the year. My favorite sight so far was at lunch today, right outside my window where a dozen students from all range of grades gathered around a table sharing stories of classroom discussion laughter, joy and innocence. Please see the enclosed Welcome Letter it sets forth our theme of the year. This year, as always, we strive to live St. Augustines Maxim Our Hearts Are Restless Lord, until they rest in Thee. In addition, this year, as we close out the Year of Faith, we look to the great Catholic educator, St. John Bosco, for six ways to practically live our faith and spread it by our actions. The Blue Envelope is our weekly communication vehicle. We send it each Friday (or last day of a school week) and include the weekly Blue Letter, other flyers and announcements and, monthly, a calendar. Much of this information, but not all, will also be sent by email. Please look it over thoroughly each week. The Blue Letter will convey regular school and community announcements. It will often contain a thought or article on items of interest to us as a Catholic school community education, theological, child rearing, etc. Over the weeks, months and years, this gives us all some common ideas and questions which we can discuss together it can help build a common language for us to use as we individually and collectively bring our families closer to the ultimate and eternal goal, eschewing the fashions of the moment for the time-honored verities and virtues. Also, every week in the blue letter, we have a section for prayers, Ora Pro Nobis. It seems there is always plenty to pray for. These last few months, though, it seems we have been really called to much more prayer. So many things going on in our community that need graces how many more needs which we hold in our hearts. Please be attentive to this list each week and hold up these intentions in prayer. Also, please let us know should you have any needs which we should be praying for. We are, first, brothers and sisters in Christ, so we should remember to pray for each other daily, then for those especially urgent and special intentions, like for Rosie Grimm and Mr. Modrovich. Announcements follow on reverse side.
