Sentence: A group of words which makes complete sense

Kinds of sentences
• Affirmative Sentence( ‘Yes’ sentence) Ex: He is writing a letter subject + verb
• Negative Sentence(‘No’ sentence) Ex: He is not writing a letter
• Interrogative Sentence (‘question’) ex: is he writing? Verb + subject
• Imperative Sentence(‘order’) Ex: Let me go
• Exclamatory Sentence (No verb) Ex: Oh! What a building
• Optative Sentence Ex : May god help you

Conversion affirmative to negative sentences

Examples:

My friend comes to my house every day


My friend does not comes to my house every day

My father is working in a factory


My father is not working in a factory

Sachin played well


Sachin did not play well

He had given many books


He had not given many books

Children are playing in the garden


Children are not playing in the garden

We work in the laboratory


We do not work in the laboratory

The minister spoke well


The minister did not speak well

Interrogative sentences

There are only seven tenses which can be converted into interrogative sentences

• Future
• Present imperfect
• Past imperfect
• Future imperfect
• Present perfect
• Past perfect
• Future perfect

Parts of speech

Words are classified into 8 groups and they are called parts of speech

• Noun ex ; table,man,hall
• Pronoun ex ; he,she,it
• Verb ex ; play,eat,write
• Adverb ex ; he spoke well
• Adjectives ex ; rich man,old person
• Conjunction ex ; he is rich and intelligent
• Preposition ex ; books are on the table
• Interjection ex ; oh

Use of capital letters

• We must begin every new sentence with capital letter


• Begin every proper noun with capital letter

a,an,the indefinite articles


we should not use a,an,the before proper noun and abstract noun

Transformation

Changing the pattern of the sentence without changing its meaning is called
transformation of sentence
