Course Description This course introduces tourism students to basic understanding of the various components that must be considered in the management of a travel agency and covers such functions as and varied relationships that link travel agents with travel suppliers, tour operators, tour wholesalers and other entities involved in the travel distribution system. Course Requirements The students must be able to pass the recitation, quizzes, assignments and periodic examinations. 1. Class Standing Quizzes Exams TOTAL 20% 40% 40% 100%

Computer Reservations System (CRS) Lecture-Training-Workshop (Airline, Hotel and Shipping Reservations) Course Objectives General: At the end of the semester tourism students are expected to identify and discuss issues that are likely to have a major impact on future agency operations. It also expects them to understand the business aspects of agency operations and administration as vital parts of the specialized knowledge and skills that separate the employable, promotable travel professional from someone who has merely passed a travel course. Terminal: At the end of the course, students will be able to Thoroughly define the current knowledge of the principles, practices and scope of the industry; Describe the opportunities and responsibilities of a career in travel and tourism; Operate manual computerized tasks with accuracy, skill and efficiency; and Develop effective communication and interpersonal skills with clients during hand-on practice program.
