Analyse of Questionnaire By Erica Hall

A part of our audience research we need to find what our target audience and what they want from a music video. On way in which we have chosen is to complete a questionnaire in order to get feedback to help us plan out what we want to include in our video. We asked 40 people in order to get lots of feedback to encounter all their ideas to make our own music video. This was the first question in our questionnaire and is very important Gender because throughout the questionnaire we can see how it differs with the answer because of their gender. We asked 23 female and 17 male. We would have like Female it to have been 50/50 but we didnt Male manage to do this but as it is close to 50/50 I think we will be able to get effective results. Individuals obviously have their own opinions of what they like but from the questionnaire I can tell the Females answers have similarities with each other and the same with the male. This means we can make connections with the answer from what the people have said so it can match a wide range of peoples opinions. One thing we will need to look at is the colours we use and this will be chose from the gender and also the genre of music. As we are think of a Jazz/acoustic music video the colours will need to be vibrant and bright with contrasting colours which means it will probably attract more of a feminine audience. One question had 100% with the same answer and that was do you see advertisements on social networking for music videos? This is a good response because it means when advertising our music video we are able to advertise it on social networking site in order to get more of our own viewing our video. Age is something that we have considered in detail as we wanted our video mainly aimed at people aged be 13-20 (so mostly teens) but in order to see further than this to see if our range is a good choice we asked people from 13-30. From the questionnaire I can see changes between the teens and the adults as the results become a little different. On one question I can see this well as their genre of music is slightly different to the younger generation which means they like different things. Although they are different they also match what we want to do which is a folk, jazz and an acoustic so this means our video could have a wide range of audience that would like it.

The pie chart above shows allows Chloe and I to be able to pick an effective song to suit our target audience. It is a very open question and allows people to tick more than one box. Looking at the pie chart acoustic has the biggest sector which means its the most popular genre out of the people we asked. Acoustic is something we have considered as we can portray many different emotions and it is something we both like listening to. As lots of the other sectors are quite small we have considered using these as part of our song so we can incorporate many genres in one song to make something new and adventures. Then after the making we will be able to ask the same sort of people to see whether they work well together. The question to the right will help a great deal when it Where do you usually comes to publishing our watch music videos? video and this is because we will want people to see it where they visit the most. As YouTube YouTube is the top place where people view music Sound Cloud videos it means this will be a MTV good place to put our video 4music on. The plus side of YouTube is that anyone can upload a video and anyone can view the video. Also with YouTube we can link it to post on other websites so people can notice that our video is on YouTube. As we can see on the pie chart some people listen to 4music to watch music videos but we wouldnt be able to put our video on here as its mostly only the top charts so all the famous people. The next question links well with the question above as its about if people see advertisements on social networking websites. This is where we can link YouTube to Facebook, twitter etc so people who we known can see it and then will be able to spread the word if they like it. The results of this where either Yes or No and it came back with everyone saying 100% yes. This is a certain thing in which we will do as people use social networking every day

When watching music videos do they influence on your everyday life?

. Music viedos can have a big impact on people lifes as it has been in the media espeacially tiowards girls and wanting to look a certain way. We thought it would be good to include this in our questionairre to see what things make some people feel uncomfotable. For all the people that said Yes the comments in the why section were: How all the celebrites are so skinny and able to wear less clothing- We want people to feel comfortable of who they are so when looking at clothing we will wear what we feel comfortable in. The words that they use for example slang and swear words- I feel this is negative and has a bad imapct on peoples lives so in our video it will be more about having fun and using words that are postive As the song/genre we are thinking of is Jazz/Folk/acoustic we wanted to get peoples opimnoms the genre to see if they match what we have been planning: Upbeat Happy Slow Emotionally Bright Dark Contrastion I think it depends what way you are looking at it from but w could incorparate all of these different idea within our video to make it appealing towards our audience. Looking at Goodwins theory and even though our audience may not know anything about Goodwin the three answers that could have been ticked are pretty self explanitry. What do you expect to see in a music video ?

All of the answer are pretty equal so people think they are all just as important as each other. Visual is something that had the most people tick so it means the lyrics have to match to what is happening in the video so that the audience can connect well and keep them interested. Do you think it is important to see visuals in a music video? The morjority of the people said Yes and they said : Describes the artists emotions- this is quite important towards what we are plannning to do as it is acoustic/jazz and this will have lots os positive emotions within and we need to show this by connecting well with the lyrics to the song. Read the artist mind- this shows people make a connextion if there are visuals and will be able to put a picture in there head better Entertaning- somepeople just like to be able to see what happening instead of just lisenting to the song As the three things above are all postive thing will will be able to consider and try attempt to make them all happen so that it meets our target audience views. A a result we wanted to find out how often people atcually watch the music videos to songs. This is quite importtant because we want our video to be watch and if the results are not what we want then it may be harder for people to see our video.

As a result it seems that quite a few people actually watch the video to songs which is a postive due to that is what our task is. Music has become very popluar and is a part of most peoples life as it is classed as their enjoyment so by us doing this it will hopefully give enjoyment to our target audience.

When an artist makes all their songs they distrubte to shop as a CD but what is it that makes us buy them? This is a question that we have put on our questionairre so when making our digi pack we know what to include to grab our target audiences attention.

Looking at the pie chart the genre of the music is very important so from the questionairre that we have done it very important to go with the genre in which they will like as it will target the people we will want. The star image is something they also like to see in there case famous people but if wer star in our own video the people who we know will want to watch it. People are often put by the price asd some cd now can me quite expensive and sometimes ranging between 10-15 per a cd. I think if we price ours at a lower price it willl attrat more people to buy the CD and also we will probably get more profit from how many we sell. This questionairre has opened mine and chloes mind more about the decisions that we will. We want to be able to attarct our target audince and I think this will be done by doing things that they like to see and taking challenges to see new and more exciting things especial by mixing the genres. Now we have done this we can start to plan what will work best with the target audience and try to explore different areas of music and making music videos.
