WU: CW: HW: PP: Second Row is used to check for completion and participation points (PP), or behavior points. Because we are not encouraged to grade on behavior, I call it participation instead. At the start of the bell, I check for HW. I use a check for completed, for half completed, and a 0 for no homework. I use the same marks for warm up (5 minutes after the bell) and classwork (throughout the period). If student is sleeping, talking out of turn, disrupting the learning process in any way, I indicate a 5 under PP. But there are some codes that I use for 5 so that I remember why Im taking off the points if the students or parents ask. Here are some if you want to use them: - 5 T Talking when not supposed to (doesnt matter if they are helping another student, theres a time for that), or making inappropriate comments - 5 S Sleeping during class (at any moment) - 5 L use of inappropriate Language, usually cuss words, but also if a student puts another student down - 5 D Distracting learning process in any way.
